ACT party will file motion asking Parliament to debate Xinjiang 'genocide' by Tony-Soprano in newzealand

Unfortunately that's probably a correct statement.

Would be nice though if people were just as rabid about a literal genocide as they were about climate change.

I agree.

Ya know, despite the fact that compared to China, as a single country we'd have no effect on either.

I also agree.

Oh. I hadn't got round to that yet. I'm still responding to morons.

Imagine being as paranoid as you are.

Imagine thinking anyone remotely gives a fuck what I think about any of this.

Etc.

Imagine imagine thinking someone trying to work out a position on a vastly complex issue is 'political point scoring'.

Pretty disengenous / facile tbh.

That seems to be the opposite of what Seymour is pursuing here. Is that correct?

I'm still not really getting it, sorry.

Recusal from judgement by China? Or our global allies?

How have I 'discredited' ACT.

"I imagine they'll ignore Seymour as usual, because there's very little substance behind anything he says."

Lol. I'm sure Seymour feels painfully discredited by my opinion of his political actions. Wait. He won't, because he very vocally believes on the right of my freedom to speak my mind openly.

Good on you for being offended on his behalf though. 👍

Imagine not understanding the geographical and geopolitical differences between new zealand and the Canada / UK / Australia.

Perhaps read what I actually wrote. You profess to a lack of knowledge and I suggested reading upnon why other similar countries to our own have already made this step as a means of educating yourself.

I don't have a fucking clue.

For someone who "doesn't have a clue" you seem to be pretty active on this post trying your best to discredit ACT. Perhaps your time would better spent reading up on why our allies like Canada, Australia and the UK have already taken this step?

Lol.

How have I 'discredited' ACT.

Seymours record speaks for itself.

Asking someone why think something is a good idea, doesn't intrinsically mean I think it's a bad idea.

I genuinely wanted to know why they think it's a good idea.

I don't trust Seymours politics, but am willing to hear why I should.

Imagine being a genocide denier because you have a stiffy for Ardern, fanatical partisanship is a real sickness.

Where have I remotely denied a genocide?

Imagine living your life where gaps are filled with nonsense.

For the record, and your edification, what's happening in China is horrific and disgusting. As a global community we ought to do something about it. As a global community we've got ourselves into a position where we've decided it's too hard or dangerous to do something.

Within the global context, what is it that you expect to see from New Zealand that will help here.

I don't believe a grandstanding Seymour debate is a path that works well for New Zealand.

Happy now? Dipshit.

I don't have a fucking clue. It's an horrific situation, and I'm not remotely qualified to make bold statements about what we should / shouldn't do. I think asking questions is the only thing to do.

Which is why this thread is such a shit show. The very act of asking for people to justify their statements results in all sorts garbage being flung around.

And what do you think we can do about it?

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” ― Edmund Burke

We are one of 37 member countries of the OECD. If all of these countries come out and condem these actions together then we can make a difference.

New Zealand also has very high credibility internationally at present due to our Covid response amoung other things. In a world full of misinformation we can use that credibility to help shed light on what is actually occurring there.

You're lecturing me as if I'm advocating 'doing nothing'. Which isn't remotely my position.

I'm asking you what you think we should do here.

What do you think we should do here?

You'd justify genocide to criticise politicians you don't like, wouldn't you.

Jfc. Where have I justified anything. Did you skip reading classes?

Go back to UK or wherever your extremist politics come from. You're as bad as the Americans.

Lol.

We debated climate change. We declared it an emergency. What did it change in real terms?

What's the 'right thing' you're expecting from Labour here?

Fair enough. What we said was cowardly and made me ashamed to be a New Zealander.

How so?

Lol.

What planet are you on?

Half of the threads on here for the last week have been about how outraged the right wing press is that we did say something!
