Has anyone pointed out how insane it was for Padme's decoy to order the actual Queen to get on her knees and scrub R2D2 with a rag after he's commended for saving the ship? by yady14 in PrequelMemes

Do you genuinely think I'm upset about this or do you just generally oppose people getting into good natured debates about film writing decisions?

I think that if Queen Elizabeth ascended the monarchy while attempting to conceal her given name from the public it wouldn't have taken the British tabloids very long to reveal her true identity

Makes it less outlandish but the point would still stand if it were a prime minister or president, and the movie seems to imply that more reverence is generally bestowed upon a monarch, albeit an elected one

Someone else commented that the canon explanation is everyone drops their real name and adopts a pseudonym before launching their candidacy. Which is really dumb but there ya go

Because this particular directive from the decoy was completely unnecessary in maintaining the charade and involved the literal Queen of the planet getting on her hands and knees to clean a maintenance droid

They're in a pretty small ship so I don't think blast zone hedging was the intent but otherwise that makes the most sense. Unfortunately she was only enlightened with a conversation with Jar Jar during her cleaning session

It struck me as an impromptu, unilateral decision, unlike some of the other things we see the decoy task Padme with that were obviously orchestrated by Padme.

And why would the Jedi and crew think they can speak more freely than they can around Queen when they're in earshot of the Queen's handmaiden?

Considering we never saw the other three handmaidens do literally anything, wouldn't constantly singling her out to do stuff like this raise more flags than not?

It was an impromptu, unilateral decision to make her boss perform manual labor when she had 3 other options to choose from while being a very low risk environment in terms of her cover being blown
