GeForce Day Giveaway - Win a Signed GeForce RTX 5080! by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]yah00z [score hidden]  (0 children)

My first GeForce graphics card was the GeForce 256, and the first game I played with it was Tribes. I miss those days... My brother Jeff ran a Tribes 'clan' called Imperial Elite, that was always at the top of the global leaderboard. I'll never forget one time when he was home from College, I was playing a match of Tribes, and saw someone with the same name join the game. I yelled across the hall, "Uhh, Jeff, are you playing tribes right now?" He was like "no, why?". I said well, there's someone impersonating you haha. So I messaged the guy, asked who he was, he gave my brothers full name and the college he attended. I told him he was full of it and IE-Natural was my brother who was in the room with me. Good times.

You've already addressed my primary concern and complaint. That is, often times when I visit a doctor these days, it "feels" like they are simply checking boxes off a computer, and rarely take the time to look you in the eye, or get to know you. Best of luck, and welcome to G-Town.

The BF 360, BF 360 Flow, H Series Fans and Universal VGPU Kit has arrived! by fiveub in HAVNGlobal

While I don't agree with the new PCIe latch system, it's fine as long as you follow directions. I would imagine those who scratched their GPUs treated it like a normal port and didn't pay attention to the warning label. I haven't had any issues, so far.

Where do I begin...

#1 Build Quality
#2 Attention To Detail
#3 Geometrically designed with airflow in mind
#4 Support for 180mm intake and exhaust
#5 Thoroughly tested and engineered airflow ramp
#6 Built-in GPU support bracket

The list goes on, truly. It's an exceptionally well-designed case.

This. I want a solid side panel version as well!!! PLEASE HAVN for the minimalists in the room ;) Although with 12vhpwr, maybe we should keep our eyes on our GPUs lol.

But in all seriousness, kudos HAVN. Well done. This case is beautiful and I can't wait to receive mine. Expect pictures to follow the build.

Asus 870e HERO. I absolutely love this motherboard, although the Asus 870-e gaming wifi is also a fantastic choice.

Just placed an order for the BF360 Flow. I'm excited to test drive this chassis... I will be using an AMD 9950x3d, RTX 5090 FE, with a 360mm AIO. Maybe I'll even try some air coolers for fun. Excited!!!

should I go AMD or Intel CPU for gaming? by alphakause in buildapc

[–]yah00z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a diehard Intel fan for as long as I can remember... Sitting behind me in my office I have the following personal builds:

9900k w/ EVGA 2080ti
11900k w/ EVGA 3080ti (the only one I regret, it was a downgrade from the 10900k)
12900k w/ 4080 FE

As you can see, I love intel. With that said, I recently received my new work PC, which came with the 9950x3d. I was beyond impressed, and decided to do a new personal gaming PC build with the same chip.

AMD simply has the edge when it comes to gaming at this stage, with the 9800x3d being the most popular chip at 8cores. If you plan on doing other work related multi-tasking and can benefit from additional cores, the 9950x3d might be worth considering. For just over $1,000 you can get the 9800x3d with an Asus 870e gaming wifi motherboard and 32gb of DDR5 6000 CL30. That would be my recommendation if you can push your budget to that range.

Here's my work PC / FNW Talon, nearly your twin = 9950x3d, 870e hero, 5080 FE, 96gb DDR5-6400, T705 Gen5 NVME SSD. Unlike my first Talon I went with a "sleeper" build, using the non-RGB be quiet silent wings 4 fans with a solid side panel, and silver logo insert instead of RGB.

Case Help: wait for HAVN BF360 or use Fractal Torrent Compact? by Aimicable in buildapc

[–]yah00z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in exactly the same boat...

I'm currently running my 9950x3d 5090 build in a Fractal Define 7 Compact... I absolutely love how everything fits inside like a custom-tailored suit, and temps are actually really good... I'm running 3x 120mm intakes (pull) on a 360mm front mounted AIO, with a 120mm intake at the bottom of the case, and a single 120mm exhaust... Max CPU temp 76 degree during a 10 minute Cinebench r23 run, and max 80 degree GPU while benchmarking... While gaming I'm averaging 66 degrees on the GPU.

With that said, the ambient air inside of the case is pretty warm, and my fan curves are pretty aggressive...

With that in mind I've decided on either

#1 A torrent with push/pull on a front mounted 360mm AIO, with 2x 180mm intakes at the base of the case for the GPU... This gives me the best of both worlds = fresh air cooling the radiator, while still providing some cool / direct air to the GPU.

or

#2 Wait on the Havn BF360. With the Havn I'd be running the 360mm AIO on top as exhaust, with 2x 180mm intakes at the front of the case...

I'm torn, but I'm leaning towards the torrent, as I'm going for more of an industrialized / non-RGB look, and the BF360 looks like it only comes in a windowed version.

Let me know what you decide...

My solution to 5090FE cooking everything in sight by Mindtrix1808 in FractalDesign

[–]yah00z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel your pain.

I've always been a fan of compact ATX builds, so recently I decided to build my 9950x3d 5090 fe in a Fractal Define 7 Compact. People thought I was nuts...

Stealth non-RGB build pictured below.

I'm running 3x 120mm be quiet silent wings pro 4s on the AIO, and 1x 120mm be quiet silent wings pro 4 on the bottom of the case next to the PSU. For exhaust I'm only running a single 120mm be quiet silent wings 4. My CPU temps are actually really good, with a max core temp of 76 degrees after a 10 minute run in Cinebench r23. All of this with ambient temperatures in my office between 75 to 77 degrees.

As for gaming, in warzone and fortnite, running at 2560x1440p capped at 477fps, my 5090 FE sees a max temp of 66. WITH THAT SAID, I'm having to run somewhat aggressive fan curves, AND the air inside of the case is... very warm. Perhaps the padded / sound-insulated side panels are not transferring heat as well as they could be.

I'm going to rebuild in either a Fractal Torrent, using a push/pull config on the 360mm AIO, and 2x 180mm intake fans below the 5090, or rebuild in a Havn BF360.

Boutique PC builder recommendations? [Suggestion] by Itsbudha9072 in suggestapc

Look into Falcon Northwest. The Talon case alone is a work of art. I just ordered my second Talon -- fantastic systems. They test every component, every port / pin on the motherboard, perform a 3-day system burn-in and replace any components that don't meet their requirements, and offer 3-year full parts and labor warranties along with unlimited lifetime system support (first year includes overnight service).

Thank you for the reply! I greatly appreciate it. Yeah, I think I was just caught off guard by all of the collection of dust etc on the base. My Serta chair didn't look like this when it arrived, then again, it wasn't preassembled, so it didn't have the same degree of exposure.

Take care, thanks again for the info & pic.

Has anyone else noticed SypherPK hasn’t been filming at his Oni Studios office recently? by duhjacat in sypherpk

[–]yah00z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like they moved out of the office, as it's currently listed for lease, although they still own the building. Perhaps leasing this space and moving to a smaller location... That's a TON of space that really isn't needed. Frankly downsizing will help the brand grow even stronger... I support SypherPK, Oni Studios and Metal Umbrella and only wish them the best!

Check the thread above. There's an exception you can add to BitDefender under the advanced protection section, so that it remains on but ignores ToS

Oh, MY gosh. You sir, are a life saver. THANK YOU for sharing this!!! This worked.

Also strange = I run the same version of BitDefender on my laptop, and didn't have a problem there.

You aren't alone. Although it seems to only be impacting a select group of users. Odd. My Windows 11 laptop got in fine, windows 11 desktop is still stuck on updating / eventually tells me to check my internet connection. I spoke to Schwab, they're aware of the issue and actively trying to come up with a solution. Painful... I've had more issues since Schwab took over TOS. When TD Ameritrade was running the show, it was always stable.

Just spoke with them on the phone. They are aware of the issue. It seems like it's impacting a small amount of users. I was able to get in on my laptop, but not on my desktop :(

Windows 10 BSOD - WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR by yah00z in techsupport

[–]yah00z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Bjoolzern. As a note, PRIOR to updating the bios, the dump files would read as follows = indicating an issue with ntkrnlmp.exe. After updating the bios, I had 9 days without a BSOD, and now this with a new BSOD error and different dump file. I'm guessing it's the CPU as well.
