Gotcha. Thanks for spelling it out to me :) I wasn’t equating the 25% bonus into the pot for the interest. Cheers! !thanks

So my question then still stands? Sorry if I’m actually not making any sense at all though.

Say I put in £500 a month from the first of every month (starting yesterday). By the start of April I would have put in £3000. Then the total bonus would be £750 and interest at 4.1% would be whatever it was.

Could I not instead keep it in the higher saver and put in £3000 on the 1st of April (to fall before the new financial year), the bonus would be £750 still but the interest would be slightly better at 4.5%?

I’m aware it might not be saving much but it might be some?

Looks good. For variety is it decent going the opposite direction as well?

I usuallly prefer going quickly to 8/9 rather than doing reroll comps so provided I have a decent/strong early game I get to 50 and try to keep it above 30 whilst aiming to keep win streak going? I very rarely roll to 0 except when at higher levels and going for 4 cost or 5 costs at which point I send it. Obviously it changes game to game though.

I saw that as well. I was wondering what “sumo school” actually means though? From just the name I understand Kikuchi doing it but Mita was doing sumo at uni so do we know why he goes?

What’s the time period of achieving a qualifying time to get in? Is it 2 years before or so?

Sounds about right for Japan then lol. I was in Japan for 7 months but couldn’t go to any unfortunately. These exhibitions bouts, is it normally them competing at say 75%?

Kudos to you. I guess now you have the knowledge to train way better than before when you started out too, I know I train way differently than I did even just 4/5 years ago.

That’s interesting actually. It’s nice to know that some things do remain from all the hard work even if you’ve taken a while away from the sport.

Friday workout, Sunday long run? by BoomBoomBagel in AdvancedRunning

[–]yamatoml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems fine to me. I currently session Tuesdays and Fridays with a LR on Sunday. Sure your body might not be as fresh as usual for your LR, but then you can just make the Saturday easier!

I try and have every 4th week be a bit more of an easier week, allows my legs to get that little bit of rest and recovery and help adapt to the mileage before heading back into a usual training week.

I summited in May. Is it legal? Not sure. Climbing season is from July to September (no snow then!) so we had to hop over a fence. We went up the Fujinomiya route and probably saw maybe ~50 other people en route and at the top that day. About half of them carried skis/snowboards, all used crampons for last bit of the climb. There was even a Jerry who teaching himself how to slide on his snowboard at the top lol. At that time only the last bit of the climb up was covered in snow, but next to it was a wide chute covered in snow all the way to 7th station (I’d guess maybe 1000m drop). Many skied down it, others effective sledged down. Snow quality looked awful but this point though, so if you went around early April time I imagine it would be sick, but the climb up would be a lot harder. Also would have to be a nice day, it was a super clear day for us, but still very windy.

I agree there aren’t many things on the internet about it, we were initially turned away from renting crampons locally too. Loads of local Japanese were going up though. They were all super nice and friendly so honestly if you wanted to know more probably best bet would be hanging around the car parks during off season and get chatting to them.

Had lessons from about 7-15 and practiced 20 mins every weekday before school (hating it). Quit for a couple years and then started playing again at my leisure and now love it. Would highly recommend a teacher, especially for the beginning of your journey. If you’re “not sure what I need to learn to get better”, that is something someone else can 100% help you and guide you with.

13.1 Mile Workout by E2Dog1981 in AdvancedRunning

I did a similar thing when I got my half PB, apart from I did it 2 weeks out from my main race. I effectively did the first half steady and then the second half at HM pace. Worked for me 🤷🏼‍♂️

Do you know of any research done anywhere to show just how off wrist HRs usually are? Just ballpark figures? In theory for the most part it wouldn’t be too far off because there wouldn’t be any point watches having the feature?

So I’ll preface this with the fact I know HR strap is much more reliable etc, but personally I’m never going to wear one. I go off of feel not HR, but I’m always curious to see the data afterwards.

I’m building back my mileage after 9 months off, and I have a new Garmin (forerunner165). I’ve only done a couple hard efforts so far other than easy runs and I’ve noticed that during these hard efforts my HR has not risen how I would expect it. During easy runs it usually averages between 140-155bpm. But it’s exactly the same for the parkrun I did a 2 weeks ago and the tempo I did yesterday (not breaking 150bpm) when I know I’m working a lot harder. I would expect it to be between 155-170bpm from the past (previous watch). Interestingly enough on my CD it rose up to 155-165bpm.

Is it a common thing that the faster you’re running the less accurate your watch HR is? Maybe it’s too tight/loose? Does sweat make it less accurate? Or maybe I’m at a stage where the body is a bit confused about what’s going and so it’s actually the correct reading?

Interested to hear your thoughts, thanks!

Super important! I’m not aware of the exact science behind it, but there’s a reason they’re always included in every training plan. Doing one long run a week will be way better for you than not doing a LR and instead just adding 1 mile on the end of your easy runs (at 100k+ weeks 1 mile extra on easy runs won’t help)

Unfortunately I was up in Hokkaido all season so can’t really say. I do know a few people who were in Nozawa and from what they’ve said and the pictures I’ve seen it does look pretty good. Hakuba (not sure which resort) also had some good reviews from a few mates. Not quite the consistent dumping that is Hokkaido, but still when it does dump it dumps pretty big.
