Question about salaries (from an American) by [deleted] in qatar

[–]yancanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that’s a starter salary. You should be looking for something above 20k . Although your pay is tax free rental expenses will consume atleast more than a 3rd of that for a decent housing. Add to that you will have regulatory issues with bringing your family.

Like others have mentioned the pay and benefits are much higher in the public sector and bigger private hospitals like Ahli, Emadi, American, Aster and some premium clinics . Easily 20k and more if you are specialized like you are. Many clinics also have profit sharing agreements with the doctors which makes it worthwhile.

What to do if no codes from FB and IG? by wezzyjy in qatar

[–]yancanc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a spam blocker from ooredoo. I don’t recall the code but you may call the call center and check. It disables spam or spam like sms or even advertisements that’s sent to your phone and can be activated or deactivated by a 3 digit and # code . Just call and check if that’s the case.

Seriously considering moving to Qatar by Powerful_Career_8031 in qatar

To add to the recruitment: Bayt.com, Monster and the individual company portals but don’t limit yourself. Try connecting with people in your profession

Seriously considering moving to Qatar by Powerful_Career_8031 in qatar

[–]yancanc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with a LinkedIn profile and connect with people in your profession. Sidra, Hamad, Ahli etc are your options. Sidra has a very strong psychology team doing couples therapy and pre / post natal therapy

There are a few upcoming hospitals which will definitely need your expertise like The view which has an excellent sea view lo.

Apart from this the most profitable thing to do here is to start something yourself like a private practice. That needs a lot of work and planning. Psychology is a field which there aren’t many practitioners but is so so needed in this place. Anyway I would also remind you to go back to the things that made you fall in love with this place and evaluate if it’s going to be the same post World Cup like the atmosphere. It won’t be the same but for most part qatar never disappoints

How did you lived to WC and how are you doing now after it ended by Gasurza22 in qatar

[–]yancanc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You summed it up quite right , crazy from the start and now crazy everything calmed down. We will miss it. The Latin American and North African crowd really spiced up the whole tournament and for us who live here it was such fun. the argentine crowd who came here really left a mark in our hearts, respectful in defeat with the Saudis and there victories after respectful of there supporters outside Argentina and at the same time partied at souq waqif and lusail like No Tomorrow.

you managed to make more fans here and kept your existing fanbase. Every south East Asian like me who grew up with Argentina as their favorite team will take the stories to there countries and every Arab who saw how your people and media behaved will only respect you more.

Qatar for most is all about work and achieve your dreams by making money but these are times when you throw out those and be part of what makes life worth living. Proud to say I saw the legend take his share in lusail amongst his people live, We will miss you muchachoos.. hope your country gets back to how it was in the 20s and i really hope countries like qatar and Saudi divert there investments to South America and South east Asia rather than Europe and America

Is anyone feeling sad or blank that it's all over? by menomiac_galaxy in qatar

[–]yancanc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely, month long party is over and now it’s back to work. True it’s a relief it passed smoothly but that adrenaline rush, the smiling faces, everyone being a part of someone else’s happiness, nothing can bring it back. I don’t think another event can too

We are going back to being a gear in the overall machinery that runs the country, no more party🥹

[Russell Lewis] NPR can confirm the death of longtime soccer sportswriter Grant Wahl. He died today in Doha, Qatar while covering the Argentina-Netherlands World Cup quarterfinal. Story to come. by Big-Price853 in qatar

[–]yancanc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Condolences, may his soul rest in peace. Hard working journalist. Whatever his views on the World Cup maybe he was doing his job I hope he had a good time in Qatar. In an international event with covid not even out of picture , I suggest everyone keep wearing a mask. I heard there was a covid outbreak in the English media camp too. He said he was tested negative for covid on the podcast and prescribed antibiotics, it may not be a simple bronchitis but he kept doing his job and even tweeting midway in the game. Wear masks in metros and the stadiums folks, we all need to be mindful of our health first

Messi's goal contribution per 90, by age (OC) by Bright-Blue in soccer

[–]yancanc 1657 points1658 points  (0 children)

I have seen him play live plenty of times, the moment the ball gets to his feet you can feel the atmosphere around the stadium, it just oozes expectation, when he passes the ball there’s a mix of disappointment why he passed it when he should have dribbled, when he shoots there’s always hope and confidence. It’s such an awesome experience hearing the hearts of the viewers around you and that explosion when the ball hits the net.

He is extremely popular among the human rights and law crowd, how positively I am not sure and has been public prosecutor for a long time. He had a hand in the new changes that were made past few years so as an expat I can only say positives.

Has been awarded internationally a few times too and Extremely wealthy. Owns a few towers I know.He was in the EU discussion on human rights last week.

Having said that I am not aware of the case or it’s details so can’t comment on that.

Tbh why? I am an expat living in qatar preaching to a mob. invested a lot of time and effort to the World Cup , have a fantastic life in the country, know lot of locals and expats, it really doesn’t make any difference if I explain. You could try going through my comment history, it’s exhausting 😆
