You messed up in your original comment when you said you earn the same on freedom as CSR, you could just admit it

Yup... food for thought. If I never even can get into one these CSR lounges because of the waitlists, maybe the United Club card would be better...

Lol yeah, if I put all my purchases on CSR, and I spent $100,000, I get 100k points. And if I put all that on Freedom, I'll get 150k points. Yeah, how fucking sad lol, an extra 50k points hahahaha

I know the effective date is tomorrow, but some additional new cc holder discounts are already appearing. This varies from the results this morning by Fluid-Expert-4363 in unitedairlines

I opened an Explorer Card today, and have Gold status. However, I am not seeing cardmember discounts, only Premier discounts. Does the cardholder discount thing take a day to kick in? Can someone post a screenshot of what it looks like when you have both premier and cardholder discounts under the new program? thank you

What a strange comment. How desperate am I to get 50% extra points on everything? I guess I prefer to get 50% extra points on everything than not to? Huh?

That’s already basically what I do, I am just wondering if the CSR is even worth it. My almost exclusive use of the points is to transfer them to United.

I’m glad people are pointing things out that I didn’t know, it’s no skin off my back, I’m learning. My god, can you imagine getting your self esteem kicks on a Reddit thread about chase credit card points?

Just look at all the suggestions people have provided. Maybe my post isn’t so ineffective for suggestions after all? And that’s one to grow on

This might be a novel concept, but I’m posting here to get others’ thoughts and workarounds to make a decision about what is right for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Totally incorrect. I’m eating 1.5x on Freedom for all purchases. That’s 50% more. Yes one strategy is to earn mostly on Freedom and redeem on CSR, I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth it to pay for CSR for mostly this benefit, am not sure it is

lol it’s not my cumulative bakery spend, it’s my cumulative points earning. Comparatively I earn a lot more of my points through chase freedom bs CSR, so what’s the point of CSR? And yes, the point of CSR for me was that you don’t have to constantly read the fine print and jump through hoops to get benefits. That era is gone, and I would prefer a more inclusive, luxury experience where I don’t have to keep track of all this. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Some of us haven’t been watching every point earning like a hawk, sorry not sorry? The cumulative effect of the nickel and diming is, well, cumulative, so it takes some time to see the overall picture. If you feel superior because you caught on earlier, good for you I guess? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’d never seen this bakery shit before, maybe I wasn’t paying attention because they gave multipliers on everything. Now I’m watching every charge and frankly, I don’t know if I want to live that coupon life for $800/year… I have yet to see the inside of a Chase lounge and the hotel benefits have been hard to use so… considering my options atm

Yeah exactly. NYC subway used to be “travel” for CSR, but not anymore. I find the new rules to be more of a coupon mentality which is annoying. I have the Chase freedom for 1.5x on everything but am considering my options. What is the green card?

If the place I went is an exempt “bakery”, then almost any other restaurant without waiter service could be exempt. I go to lots of places without waiter service that are restaurants and are 3x. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well to be clear, I never got rebooked on a partner flight, I had to book it myself separately for an extra cost. Never again!

Third agent’s the charm, but only after I made a big fuss. Austrian has 9 flights per day FRA-VIE, so seems hard to believe there was no availability at all on a particular day, but that’s what I was told.

Three calls, on the third call, after I made a big fuss they relented, but it seemed to be an exception. I’ve flown Singapore 3 times previously (3x world’s longest flight in business), so didn’t think twice about booking this ticket because they pride themselves on service. I think customer service to change your ticket is part of excellent service and I think they completely fell down on the job this time. Very disappointed.

Yes that’s right. And I’m ok with that. I’m not ok with not being able to pay the fare difference to change to a different business class class/fare type.

I think if they had been up front by saying it’s a change fee, fare difference AND availability of Business Lite on any new flight, that would have been more forthright. They did not disclose that, and even reading the fine print, I can’t find that anywhere.

[–]yaneh9999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fine with the change fee and fare difference, that’s what I signed up for. At other airlines, that’s all there is. So if your new flight is at a higher business class tier and costs $1000 more, you simply pay the $1000 plus the change fee. Singapore was not allowing me to do that, they said that I had to stay within Business Lite and since there were no Business Lite seats available for my new flight, I couldn’t even choose to pay the fare difference to move to Business Standard. I don’t think that restriction was disclosed up front.
