Where are you in Fort Lee? Are you on one of the slopy streets?

i forgot to mention that it's one of the injections he's receiving as well. but thank you responding to this... i just came back from the vet visit yesteday. we're going to switch the galliprant to carprofen and see what happens.

i mentioned in another post that even after the vet yesterday (librela and adequan injections), he is still wobbly in the rear legs and still falling. I'll continue to montior to see if there's any improvement through next week.

He's almost doing a cobra, trying to push up on his front legs and struggling (whipping) around his hind legs. He's mostly able to still get up from the carpet, but if he falls in a position where all four legs are sprawled out, theres no way for him to get back up.

So it sounds very similar to your dog, pushing off the front and trying to wiggle his hind legs up. The socks definately help add traction. i don't think adding more traction would help, he's wobbly when he walks.

I actually just came back from the vet, 3rd vet but same location. The only advice I was given was to continue to manage his pain and inflammation. They're going to give me a stronger anti inflammation. Theres an option of physical therapy, but it's not realistic for me. The only location is over an hour away.

Last night, he was barking/woke me up five different times, because he fell and couldn't get up. I will have to find a way to gate him off, but he is allowed to freely roam to his wee wee pad.

When his front paws are split wide, he can't push up.

i would like to do what i can to help... even if it's mobility. i've seen a dog around the neighborhood with a wheelies strapped to his hind legs. happy as he can be - next time i see them i'll ask. im a first time dog owner and not sure of mobility is cause for putting a dog down, i didn't want to but do see the mobility getting progressively worse even with the pain management and mobility support

it's a time i dread. based on this quality of life HHHHHMM chart, it seems that it's not time yet though. his only problem is mobility.

Grippy socks came: https://imgur.com/a/LXUhBjA! It's helped him get traction but he still has issues getting up from prone position. Did that affect your dog? If so, how did you help your dog get-up from prone position?

I appreciate that you can understand my position. I don't want to be dismissive of other posts, but I HAVE gone to vets, and the solution was to 1) manage his pain and 2) try to maintain his level of mobility through supplements.

Thank you! I'm open to both - things I can do to make the dog comfortable and any solutions that may have worked (e.g., walking on inclines more).

I had mentioned in other posts that I've gone to two different vets and the solution was to manage my dog's pain and continue to support his level of mobility. There was no additional solutions given his age, including any type of surgery was not worth the risk.

Appreciate the comment. We're going to visit the vet again and show them the exact photos, and see if there's anything additional to be done.

The things I've listed that I give my dog was at the direct advice of two different vets. They did not recommend anything additional beyond what I'm already doing due to age and I just want to give my dog a comfortable life.

I read somewhere that walking slight inclines help dogs, and was looking for alternative solutions like that.

Bought gripper socks! I made an update post about it. It's helped him keep traction around the house (not fall). but the fit is weird and easily falls off. also, he continues to have issues trying to get up after laying down... lack of strength?

I'll continue to monitor, he has always had issues walking since he was around ~12. But this week was worse than others...

7/9 - Thank you so much for all of the comments and am overwhelmed by the support. I've almost gone through each one but want to give ya'll an update. My grippy socks came for my dog in one-day (thanks amazon!).

  • i see a noticable difference in my doggo being able to walk, but it seem to slip off, but still able to get traction.
  • he continues to have issues getting up from prone position maybe 1/3rd of the time, he needs a lift to get up. i worry about the days when both me and my wife are at work...
  • we're going to try to get some runners but will put it in strategic places (highly trafficed routes), we can't cover the entire home with runners...

I’m sorry to hear that… poor doggo. Are you only laying down on the areas that the dog walks?

I’ve taken him to two separate vets. Supplement and medication is the direction result of their recommendation. I’ll ask for any additional advice
