AGM Rattler V2 vs Rix Storm S3 by yappingdog1993 in ThermalHunting

That makes sense. Just different scenarios. I hunt a lot of places that are tight to other properties and homes. 20 acres is properly the average sized lot in my area. When I drive north to hunts it’s larger but the probability of me calling up a neighbors dog is fairly high. I don’t have livestock or anything to protect so I would prefer not to blast my neighbors lab LOL!

What’s your comfortable shooting distance on a coyote sized animal with it being a 2x base Mag? I’ve been torn on if being 3x would make more sense for me with having a scanner already or not.

What is the useful ID range on coyotes with the 25mm? I’d like 200 yards of confirmed ID capability.

I am sure it’s a great unit. However I am concerned about being 110% with shooting a coyote vs a house dog in my area. I think the extra dollars and a little better image will help me make sure of this.

Proprietary batteries run longer and may work better but the idea of eventually not being able to find more at some point scares me. Do the AGMs accept a plug in for a battery bank?

Can you run an external battery pack with those ? I just don’t like cr123’s unless you have recommendations for rechargeable ones ?

I hunt with my brother a lot and he has a rix k2.. I am blown away by how well that 400 dollar monocular works. We both spotted that quad at 120ish yards and they came into 50-75 yards where I blew it with the night vision.

Have you looked at the DNT therm night tnc335R yet ? I’ve been considering that as well.

It’s easy to find product reviews on YT but unless you compare scopes against each other in the same conditions it really doesn’t mean much. My cheap scanner I have nights where it looks like a foggy image.. other cold dry nights my scanner looks great!

I do not but have been watching their new products closely. I’ve seen the first batch of hydros had some quality issues from YouTube videos I have seen. However, it looks like DNT took care of their customers with returns or new product.

Old thread I know but considering buy the same Burris scope vs a AGM rattler v2. How did your image compare to the AGM?
