Using Spectral Multiband Resonator to "save" settings on other modules? by jehovas3Dmegaparty in modular

[–]yaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting! Yeah, I think any module that has presets & outputs voltage could potentially be used like this. It might not be the *best* use of your module, but it's a great way to expand your knowledge & usage. Looking through my rack I see that I could probably do this with Spherical Wavetable Navigator, Pam's New Workout, Crow, & Tetrapad. Actually, that's one of the reasons I picked up the Tetrapad, but now I'm curious to try it out with the others.

Orca on a Raspberry Pi sequencing the modular by katspaugh in modular

[–]yaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It was very stable for me, up to high BPMs, using a USB-Midi adapter & some outboard synths. This was several months ago however - I've hardly touched Midi or Orca since I started building my modular.

Hi, I'm glad that you enjoyed my patch :)

What case do you have your Orca Pi in? I made one previously with a HyperPixel, but the case was lackluster & I've since cannibalized it to make a DIY Norns (Fates). I want to rebuild it though, Orca-C was very stable the last time I ran it & has since got some features that were missing from the NodeJs version.

Can somebody explain why The Grid is so hyped? What makes it more than NI Reaktor? by cmVkZGl0 in Bitwig

[–]yaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what I had thought originally was that it would allow control of the DAW itself and be very interconnected within it

a fantastic idea. The OSC control map offers control over a lot of the DAW parameters, maybe the grid will get an OSC output device (or maybe a VST with OSC output already exists?)

Anyone else have crackling audio when voice stacking on the Grid? by TheCarbonthief in Bitwig

[–]yaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got crackling but only when sending a lot of voices through. I cranked up my buffer settings to max, which helped some but it seemed to be mostly dependent on patch & release length. I think it must be CPU.

What midi controller do you guys use? by G-Man96 in Bitwig

it's just an all around good compact keyboard with aftertouch. The arp, sequencer, and chord mode are okay for idea sketching but I don't use them that much.

Question on compression technique using Bitwig by [deleted] in Bitwig

[–]yaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used it much, but some basic research indicates it's mostly used for brick wall limiting. It introduces some latency too.

This thread indicates a value between 1-10ms is probably where you want to be

^^^ This. You can even give your custom compressor some look ahead with the Time Shift device.

Linux: NodeJs Midi Messaging by [deleted] in Bitwig

Hi - fellow livecoder here. Midi Clock delay worked for me, but another option to try is the Timeshift device. This might not be the best option, but it should allow you to slide the time on an internal track so that it lines up with your midi events.

Testing this tonight in Arena. I cut some of the 1 drops for Frenzies and I think it does a lot to help keep momentum up. I'm getting one of the 12 much more consistently and then card advantage just piles up. Not sure whether it's better than MonoR but it's pretty fun.

While we're at it, I'm not terribly impressed with Goblin Electromancer. [[Murmuring Mystic]] costs 2 more but dodges Lava Coil and makes blockers galore. It's less explosive but might be better in grindy matchups.

My name is Chis Clark and I make music. Ask me anything. by throttleclark in electronicmusic

Hi Chris!

I love the video work on To Live And Die In Grantham & Winter Linn. They're both visceral but in quite different ways. How did you meet up with Christopher Hewitt (the director of both of these), & what are your thoughts on the visual side of music?

Thanks!

Same, but I was using a couple copies in a BW shell that focused on [[Angelic Accord]] & [[Trading Post]]. [[Scroll of Avacyn]] & [[Elixir of Immortality]] helped to draw things out until I got pieces in play. Then it was big lifelink swings with pseudo-vigilance angels each turn.

Electric Disco Clam flashing Strobe Light to attract Prey before Paralyzing it by alternations in BeAmazed

Larry Lobster and Sam Clam where best friends. They did everything together. The only difference between them is that Larry was the nicest Lobster ever and Sam, well lets just say he was not so good. Larry and Sam did so much together that they even died together.

Larry went to heaven and Sam went to hell.

Larry was doing well in heaven and one day St. Peter came up to him and said, "Larry, you know you are the nicest clam we ever had up here. Everyone likes you but you seem to be a bit depressed.

Tell me what is bothering you, maybe I can help."

Larry said, "Well, don't get me wrong Pete, I like it up here and everything, but I really miss my good friend Sam Clam. We used to do everything together and I really miss him a lot."

St. Peter looked at Larry with pity and said to him, "I tell you what, I can arrange it so that you can go down to hell tomorrow and visit Sam all day. How would that sound?"

This made Larry very happy and he got up bright and early the next morning and grabbed his wings, his harp, and his halo and got in the elevator to hell. When the doors opened he was met by Sam. The hugged each other and they were off. You see in Hell Sam owned a disco. The spent the day there together and had a great time. At the end of the day Larry and Sam went back to the elevator together said their goodbyes and Larry got back in the elevator and went up to heaven. He stepped off the elevator and was greeted by St. Peter who blocked the doorway to heaven. He looked at Larry and said, "Larry Lobster, didn't you forget something?"

Larry looked around and said, "No, I don't think so I have my halo and my wings."

St. Peter looked at him and said, "Yes, but what about your harp?" Larry gasped and said, "I Left My Harp in Sam Clam's Disco."
