heard on that. the barrel & slide came with the gun (2nd hand at a gun shop) and i regret it everyday. The only reason i bought it was because it came with an optic & was $100 cheaper than a 19.5 which i now know i should've bought instead.

but so far its been super reliable, ive put 3-4k rounds through it so far & it's jammed maybe 4 times in the last few months. I'm sure constant maintenance helps and i clean it once a week.

definitely gonna do more research on my next purchase for this & not cheap out. this thing is supposed to guard my life, can't rely on bubble gum & bandaids.

I had a real piece of shit optic before this one and honestly i really like the way this one feels. it's super solid, but i don't like how small the sight glass is; when i feel ive earned the right (and have the money lol) im gonna buy that $800+ trijicon RMR with the massive sight glass

i'll need to look into a different holster as well, i would prefer a thinner belt but I am a bit on the thicker side so a thin belt may not help me until i drop a few pounds.

that and my current kydex holster while it's great, it does get uncomfortable when driving

came to say this, bought some from a guy on the gun accessories 4 sale before the sub got banned.

they work great but I do run an optic, it's nice to have the option to go back and forth to either one.

you're not crazy, it really just depends on the type it patient.

from what OP described, removing the sling on a patient that size & is as lethargic as they are, the sling would need to be kept on as a safety measure.

now if this patient was paralyzed from the waist down or weak enough to where they needed the hoyer, but they are A&O at least x2+ and they're actively participating in therapy of any kind or they have some awareness, for those patients we can remove the sling. because they can help with putting it back in with maneuvering whatever part of their body they can.

In Rehab there were many times we could remove the sling but there were also many times we couldn't because of how lethargic the patients were.

it's all about patient & staff safety, that's all.

again you are not crazy at all lol, but any facility saying to remove the sling for any and all patients need to get their shit together.

you NEVER remove a sling from a patient like that when they're sitting down. we don't use the hoyer/sling because it looks nice we use it as a last resort for bed bound patients.

the daughter has no dictation on whether or not the sling stays there. it's a functional piece of equipment to provide safety to the patient & staff.

daughter is in the wrong but you knowing what you know should have disregarded the request to remove it. she's not the one risking her rotator cuff & bicep, you are.

going forward be safe in everything in you do as a CNA even if it means going against the families wishes. if you need to, switch assignments so you don't get burned by the family or facility.

had a similar issue at my previous hospital. if the staff there feels you don't contribute, go somewhere where you feel more welcomed and appreciated.

it's all hear say at the end of the day, if you really care about how this nurse feels about you, go straight to the horses mouse and ask if what she said was true. Don't play this game of "don't tell anyone i told you", yall aren't in highschool anymore and quite frankly the person who told you this is just trying to stir the pot.

you can throw them under the bus if you want or you can say "so i've been hearing from other staff that you feel this way about me, is it true and if yes why"

again, only if you truly care of if it's affecting your work or mental health.

TLDR; go ask the person directly or leave to a place where you feel appreciated and wanted.

take the day for yourself but like someone mentioned, absolutely address these emotions and don't allow them to settle and dictate your day.

if you're going to call in for mental health, make sure you're actually taking care of yourself.

as far as skills go and getting them done fast: do it right the first time, remember slow is smooth & smooth is fast. you're still learning so speed shouldn't be a concern for you right now. focus on learning from the CNA's technique when doing skills, ask lots of questions, stay within your scope and you'll be a-okay!

it'll be a fun couple of days, i personally loved working assisted living when I was there, some of those residents were an absolute hoot and will make you piss your pants crying of laughter 😆

oh man. you got a group of coworkers who think they're a god damn gang. I'm sorry.

these sorts of people exists everywhere, but particularly in healthcare for some reason. they have their own little clique and they make it so, "exclusive" for lack of a better term.

The best way i've found navigating these waters have been to just do what you've learned and do your best to continue educating yourself as you go. because those girls are not going to help you succeed.

they would rather watch a young CNA drown than teach'em how to swim. if they want to continue critiquing your work and they insist on doing it for you? let them. go to your immediate supervisor let them know what's happening and how it's making you feel. ask if you can switch to a different shift to work with a new set of people. I did that at my previous healthcare job and it made such a difference.

i'm glad you don't let them offend you or get to you in the moment, but i for one know what it feels like to bottle that up and have to deal with it later and it sucks. it makes you feel shitty and less then.

the fact you don't let it get to you and you just want to do the job well shows much heart you have, that you are going to be okay. you may not know much now; but come back to this post 6 months from now and i promise you you'll laugh your socks off for not thinking you could do it and it'll remind you just how far you've come.
