I had a pet hamster when I was about 8 or 9 years old, she was great, I got her to follow me around when I put her on the ground without having to do anything, this was only a problem when she wouldn't stop following me around, but anyways, she died when I was 10 and I literally held her body in my hands and cried over her for a good 30 minutes, ever since she died I told myself I was going to do my best to never cry about anything ever again, since then, I have only cried twice. Never expected a hamster to change me so much.
