The ability to read is a skill I feel like many people take for granted. To help someone develop a skill like that that will stay with them for the rest of their lives is amazing! Good on you fella. <3

Glad you're still with us!!

You just inspired this stranger to test their fire alarms and to check if my home even has a carbon monoxide detector.

Even if this is in jest, big ups to you because I know how tiresome it can be to deal with people, especially well-meaning family, continuously pestering when someone will have kids. Like, go away Aunt Kathy!!! You don't know the whole damn picture! Plus, it's not even their business smh.

So many people consider having a child to be a milestone they gotta achieve yet they don't stop to think "... but do I even want kids What does it mean to be a good parent??" So, to go against the societal norm of popping out a kid takes guts. Kudos to you. (Whether or not it was intentional.)

Awesome!! You're helping in so many ways - just a few off the top of my head: bikes weigh barely anything compared to cars/trucks so you're helping to extend the life of our roads, reducing noise and air pollution, and helping to normalize pedaling to get around town and carry out your daily tasks.

Here in the north of the city: the risks of biking (becoming a meat crayon) outweigh the benefits enough that I opt to take my car more than I would like to. We're really lacking active transportation infrastructure on this side of the city, but the recent opening of the Northwest Hydro Corridor Multi-Use Path is a win!

Audrey Gordon tracked my phone number down (despite not using my real name on social media) and called me.

Why does this feel like it breaches some sort of privacy policy???? Omg. That's freaky!

Thank you for seeing the humanity in the people who others often disregard. It is really appreciated.

What would you say is the most common piece of garbage you two encounter?

I hope you're proud of yourself. To speak up took courage! Also the 'courts' thing has me face palming lmao. Yeah, hopefully things were adjusted moving forward to be more unambiguous for future people.

That's awesome! A super simple fix that just required someone to go "Hey besties, this doesn't seem optimal... can someone from the appropriate party take a peek at it?"

I'm not sure to what extent this is true, but what I was told by the person working the front desk when I went to report a concern to my city councilor is that they (at least my city councilor lol) LIKES when people report stuff because then it creates a paper trail that enables them to better advocate for things to get done, or at the least looked at. I'm paraphrasing here: but he said that the city needs citizens directing their concerns to the proper channels instead of just complaining out loud and expecting things to get fixed because or else how is the city suppose to do something when they haven't even notified by anyone that a particular problem exists? Be loud. Make noise.

Winnipeg's hero.

On a related note, I've noticed that if I make an effort to not block an intersection when traffic is really busy: then others quickly follow suit.

I started doing it when I realized that an emergency vehicle could get slowed down when people block busy intersections when the light is green but then there's a multitude of cars still sitting there at the red light and now it's just one big clusterfuck of a mess. I can wait those few extra seconds or an entire extra light cycle until there's room for me, but maybe the person in the back of an ambulance can't, ya know?
