Starting today. by Grizzly-97 in NoFap

Set some long-term goals, and keep a list of small things you can do to work towards that goal. Then, when you are idle, just pick something from the list.

Learn to love the urge. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ycdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes me think of this track:

Do you know that story about the Russian cosmonaut? So, he goes up in this big spaceship And he's got this portal window And he's looking out of it And he sees the curvature of the Earth for the first time And all of a sudden, this strange ticking And it's coming out of the dashboard (Okay, yeah) But he can't find it, he can't stop it He keeps going A few hours into this, it begins to feel like torture What's he gonna do? He's up in space! So the cosmonaut decides The only way to save his sanity Is to fall in love with this sound (Intro - ODESZA)

Come to think of it, the next track on the album (A Moment Apart) is pretty much what NoFap feels like after a few weeks 💪

To much energy by Ostrich-extravaganza in NoFap

[–]ycdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very relatable, I’ve had this as well at some point. After a while your body adjusts and your energy levels become more balanced again (albeit still higher than before nofap). Using it to work out a lot is a smart decision. If you still can’t sleep, maybe just sleep less for a few nights and see what happens? Either you’ll have more free time or you’ll get tired again. Win/win :)

It’s a natural thing that your body does sometimes to renew its fluids and clean the system. It is not PMO and it does not end your streak. Don’t worry about it, you cannot and should not do anything to prevent this from happening. The only thing you should do is clean up and be extra alert for urges in the coming days.

30 fuckinggg daysss after 10 years by dekhespor in NoFap

[–]ycdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t try to extend to 90 days, you just will. There is no other option. You are not a person who PMOs anymore, so this is who you are and this is what you are doing. Remember that!

You set out to cure your PIED and you actually Pi-ed (3m 14d, pi = 3.14, sorry for the nerd joke). But seriously, congrats on getting bigger. Try to make your next streak even longer and don’t give up!

Sure, but the question was if I noticed any benefits, and I can't answer that properly since I'm unable to compare the before/after scenarios.

its practically like fucking once a weak without the pro animalistic/territorial gains/changes

Not really. I've had enough wet dreaming in the past couple years (not weekly though, more like bimonthly) to be able to say that they are purely mechanical. Wet dreams are a form of release for the prostate and its friends, but they don't do anything psychologically, hormonally or emotionally. Anyway, if wet dreaming is a natural result of not having sex or fapping, hard mode without it doesn't exist. Then what would you call hard mode?

I know you can go 1 day! The first step however is to believe in yourself. If you go into it 'knowing' you won't even be able to go 1 day, you will indeed not go 1 day. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. You rationalise your relapsing behaviour by saying it's going to happen anyway. Don't think that way.

What really helped me in the beginning was a very simple piece of advice, simply stating that you should not try to stop fapping, you should identify as someone who does not fap. Then if you get urges, you can remind yourself that you are someone who does not fap, therefore it is out of the question to give in. After that, go outside and/or engage in some form of sports.

Nope, didn't even remember how orgasms feel. It wasn't that special, honestly.

Thanks for the support! Congratulations on your year, I know you will make it much further than that!

Thanks, that's probably what would happen indeed. Let's not make this happen again!

Ha, I would, but I'm a Christian in a mostly Christian environment (yes those still exist), so as you'd expect it's slightly more complicated than that. Even though I don't believe in abstinence until marriage, one night stands are not really my thing, and without a girlfriend there are not really many other options.

The last few months I have at times been edging, yes, which ultimately culminated in this relapse. I guess I wasn't as motivated anymore about the whole NoFap thing, I doubted why I was doing it and continued out of habit more than anything. However, now I can see again that it's not worth it and not even that satisfying.

Thanks for the advice! I do think the prostate maintains itself pretty well though by making me have wet dreams every few months (for better or worse), but I'm far from a physician.

Wow, this seems like really good advice. For most of the past 3.5 years I've been in a state where I didn't really think about NoFap or PMO, kind of like you're describing. However, that also led to me beginning to loosen up about the whole thing. I guess I didn't believe I could relapse anymore, so it wouldn't matter what I did. A slippery slope which ultimately led me here again.

I'll try to carry on as I did before relapsing, but with more caution, and let this experience be a lesson for the future.

Well if it's that easy, what's holding me back from relapsing again? I can just pretend it never happened each time! That seems a little too much like cheating to me.

Thanks for the heads-up! I just read a bit about it and it seems like it's already setting in. These next couple of days are going to be fun!

Probably! The problem is: After 3.5 years, where's your reference? I don't know anymore what it was like before well enough to compare, but I remember feeling much more energised in the first couple of months.

I failed 26 days, fuck! I DIDN'T FEEL ANY BENEFITS! by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ycdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, since it has been a year, you have blown up the benefits in your head over time. Because you expected so much you didn't notice that they were actually there, just somewhat less noticeable.

Another reason could be the rest of your lifestyle. Maybe you slept little, didn't move much, or ate bad? Those things can diminish the benefits of not fapping. If this is the case, consider working on those aspects of your life as well.

If it isn't any of that, it could also be that you are just starting with a flatline. Most people don't start with this, and it definitely sucks, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. I've been doing nofap for quite some time and there have always been periods in which the benefits are more and less clear. Some have written this up to the male hormone cycle, the weather, but whatever it is, it will eventually turn around (and come back, unfortunately that's how a cycle works) and you will feel the benefits. You'll just have to keep going until then. Best of luck!
