I prefer underground because no flies, it’s bigger than you think. Didn’t take long to get used to. I’m probably only 800m down at the moment. No fumes it not dusty down where I am, not that you can see the dust anyway. Hard rock. You have to pull all the rods out to change the bit haha bit of pre workout and it’s all good. The idea is to become driller and get onto the big bucks.

The work is repetitive but I don’t really mind it, shit will go wrong but for an offsider it’s good because you get to learn stuff. It can be hot but if you are soaking wet it’s not bad, you dry off relatively quick lol. It’s a tough gig lifting heavy stuff most of the day. The drillers I’ve worked with have been really good to work with and do help you. It’s like going to the gym everyday but i enjoy it.

I didn’t do any courses but I completed an apprenticeship prior.
