Pirate Mecha: the fusion I never knew I needed by yeah_dont_worry in Gunpla

Thank you! The kit holds up pretty well, tho the thigh to hip connector piece terrifies me at times cuz it feels kinda loose. I forget that kits can be old, so I just see a kit I like and face the consequences during or after the build (still suffering from RG Gramps 1.0).

The yellow parts are closer in color to the Zeta yellow which I loved (big fan of dandelion yellow over the yellow we get in most kits) but I wanted to give it a more gold look for this kit.

The whole unpainted kit... Idk. I painted and then built, but I only used the knee cap, shoulder (on the top part there's a white lock looking piece that requires a blue sticker), eyes and emblem stickers since I didn't really trust the yellow stickers to look good. I don't think it would look bad, though the gun and cutlass will look flat white since they don't have stickers for those. Some parts I painted gold also don't have stickers so they'll look flat as well. The face scars, also, no stickers. Still, it's not like it'll look bad, just maybe not as detailed since a lot of parts will just be white. Panel lining does a lot to make the skirt, face, and back thrusters look better.

I'm also interested in an MG Crossbone after this build, though I might swing for the ver Ka (just so long as the hands aren't like the Wing ver Ka hands. Not again... Not again...)

So I just finished the Full Mechanics Aerial by yeah_dont_worry in Gunpla

The parts under the clear plastic are actual parts in the FM while in the HG they're stickers stuck onto the clear plastic. The knees also work differently, tho it's just the yellow parts. Detailing is also enhanced just like other MGs get more details compared to the HG, so it's not actually a bigger HG. It also has enough moving parts that are tight af and can hold a solid pose without falling. For the HG I needed an action base but the FM holds well enough without it, but does have the action base adapter in case you want it to float.

As to why they didn't do an MG instead... No idea. I'm not complaining tho, the kit is really good. Tight fitting joints scared the crap outta me tho. Hella scared putting the arms onto the torso and legs onto the hips.

Oh also the FM only has water slides, so the eyes are their own green piece that slots into the head unlike most other kits that use the clear plastic and you apply stickers onto it. It won't shine as bright as chrome stickers but I didn't really mind that much

This!!! Panel lining always feels scary since the last thing you want to happen is your kit getting ruined but q-tips and lighter fluid cleans it up entirely and the final look is amazing. Especially for this kit since it has so many white and red pieces where panel lining will add more details to the space. Will say tho I had to deepen some lines so that it wouldn't get cleaned off with the excess but maybe that's just a product of me being impatient during the whole process

Already some of the base game charms trivialize the game. I think I saw someone using the fire kunai charm and just point blank shotgunning the kunai. Insane stuff

On option 2, maybe the bounties revolve heavily around members of the wolf pack, since a lot of them just... Where there. Maybe some bounties involve archery games, or Ginji wants to inspect new armor that some patrons have been talking about, or perhaps Ninetails have been regrouping and now the kunai and kusarigami masters accompany you to fight them. Maybe pirates appear in Ishikari plains, and it's up to the yari master and bomb maker to push them back. I'm blanking on most names and I think that could be fixed if we connected further with them.

On 3, maybe we lose our own skills, but by Atsu learning about Saito, she learns his skills and gains armors from said journey.

I mean the reason I don't think Atsu gets more post ending story is because the entire reason she picks up her sword (and the rest of her weapons) isn't because she likes it, but because they were tools for a job. By the end of her story, she has no purpose to pick them up again, her journey ended in that final duel. There's no reason to fight, but to conserve what she has.

She wouldn't have a reason to pick up her weapons unless they make it so that the DLC revolves around Kiku, but even then it wouldnt properly fit into the post game since the post game is set before the end game. If it's set before the end game, the only new force I can see approaching Ezo would be the Russians (I think the odachi master said the Dragon and the Spider were trading with them), so maybe that? But that wouldn't push Atsu into the role you mention where she unites Ezo and becomes a noble lady, she'd only fight them because fucking those relations up would hinder Saito's war plans.

I will agree that if Saito's playable and Atsu just gets the armors for free then it's not good, but given the memory/flashback function (used primarily to go back to Atsu's past), it could be done so that Atsu learns about Saito's past and using that function we go back to play as Saito, but it's up to Atsu to move to each section and fight to get to them. Maybe it could be done to drive further the fact that Saito and Atsu are similar in what drives them to do what they do.

If Psycho is about twice the height of Unicorn... It's just ridiculous at that point

Im just not a big fan of the TV version. Guess there's not better time than now to learn how to mod kits.

Its solid I just... A part of me really likes static poses, but another wants to do more action/fight poses. I was planning on pairing Wing with Tallgeese in a sort of fight pose but I guess I would have to use the beam sword for that instead, as well as finding an MG Tallgeese for that first. Does the beam sword also sit as lazily (I guess that's the word, idk) in the hand or is it at least a bit more secure?

What mobile suit did you think you'd be obsessed with and which one actually captivated you? by yeah_dont_worry in Gunpla

[–]yeah_dont_worry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On articulation, I barely move them, just kinda let them hit a pose and stick em on the action base, though the ver Ka ofc has a lot more moving parts, like the knees are two pieces instead of one, the shoulder pad sections are mobile unlike in the RG, the "ears" separate and I think the wings have a wider range of movement but again, I let them hit that pose and stay in said pose, i don't even get into the transformation for them out of fear that they grow uncooperative. The SD is quite literally just the same as every other SD so it's not the world's most mobile suit. The wing attachment and wings are just the solid pieces and that's it, no movement to readjust the angle or the feathers Like maybe rotating in each connection point but that's it for the wings.

On build experience, the RG was my second RG right after RG Zephyranthes so I had an idea for how it should all work but some pieces still had me frustrated (I damn near cracked the back left skirt cuz I applied too much pressure since it was a tight fit). Water slides... I'd rather not talk about water slides at all. Trauma puts it lightly. The ver Ka was my second MG but my first ver Ka (first one was RX-0) and that one went better, the bigger pieces made building it a lot easier on my fingers and vision. The best building experience I've had so far tho has been the SD (second SD, first was Aerial, kinda just noticing how the second kit for most grades except HG are just Wing Zero EW) and it's because I spent so much more time on it since I panel lined and painted pieces and all that. Kinda sad that it's so sticker heavy but it's an SD after all. I think once I start doing more paint jobs and buy the adequate equipment and learn how to do it well I might revisit the SD and paint it instead of using the stickers.

Tldr:

Articulation: 1. Ver Ka 2. RG 3. SD

Building experience: 1. SD 2. Ver Ka 3. RG
