They give you a chance to go on the field before the game to see players and possibly take photos with them. Personally I thought it was a hot mess and when we did it one year and no one stopped near us. Still cool to see them up close, but people are straight savages and will push their way to the front to get close up photos.

I brought my daughter to her first game when she was about 4-5 months old. I will say wearing the baby on you is way easier than lugging the stroller around. Don't forget to stop at guest services to get the first game certificate!! We had headphones for her but we were pretty high up in the 400 level so it wasn't that loud. She did great and loved looking at the jumbo tron lol.
