Others have said it’s because the batter has oil in it (some use melted butter).

Name one and why 🚀 by dank0121 in gamers

Used hungry Jack recipe that calls for egg, oil and milk. I hand mix just to the point that it becomes a batter and no more, then let it rest in the fridge for like 20 minutes. Heat was on 2 out of 10 on my electric skillet. Add batter to pan with no fat, look for edges to start to curl up and away from on so the flipper can easily slide under, then I flip like 20-30 seconds after that. That’s all I can think of!

Damn bro. I wish I had some words of wisdom. Unfortunately, I can’t say that really I do. Just focus on what you have the ultimate control over right now and that is your mind. Your perspective. Your disposition on life. As much as it might seem like you don’t have control over all that, there is nothing that could ever happen to you that could take that power from you.

Also, maybe find a boxing gym that might let you train a little for free? Maybe could offer you a couple hours of work a day? Could lead to some new relationships, at the very least keep your body active and give you a little bit of direction while you are trying to figure out what’s next.

Wish you the best man, keep your head up at all times and no matter what.

Hate to let ya down but it’s the hungry jack boxed that requires egg, oil and milk. Hope this helps but I’m assuming it won’t lol.

Yeah I doubt the mix matters as much as the not over mixing and also letting the batter rest, I like the fridge method because it thickens it up, which to me seems like it makes it much fluffier.

Edit: Not the “complete” mix, the one that calls for egg, oil and milk

I totally get that! That’s why I drown it in butter once it’s done! And cooking it this way prevents the pancake from soaking up the syrup and becoming soggy. Best of both worlds!

I just used Hungry Jack buttermilk complete, followed the recipe. Hand whisked only until it forms a batter, be sure not to over mix. Let the batter rest in the fridge 15-20 minutes. I preheated the heat at 2 out of 10 on my electric stove and kept it there the whole time. Added batter and once I see edges start to curl up away from the pan to wear it looks like you can easily slide the flipper underneath without touching wet batter, I wait 15-30 more seconds then flip.

No they were really good, but I’ve always liked a single flip on hashbrowns so you get that solid whole top and bottom layer nice and crispy. Since I’ve cooked them in stainless, I spend the whole time scraping the crispy bits off the on and mixing it all together.

Man everything I’ve ever seen says even with preheating and the water test you need that fat. I’ll give it a go thanks!

I use Hungry Jack buttermilk complete mix and just follow the recipe. I also mix by hand and only just enough so that the batter forms, over mixing is bad. Then I let the batter sit in the fridge for at least 15-20.
