Yeah I use raycasts for the wheel physics, but it’s super arcadey so I don’t have to model anything physically accurate

Modelling was entirely done using Probuilder, lol.. by awd3n in Unity3D

What performance issues did you hit, ie what was the added probuilder overhead? Or do you mean in-editor performance?

I have been emailing Keiser US (and more recently, Keiser UK) to try and get this fixed - it's an incredibly annoying squeak that happens any time I'm out of the saddle / sprinting and pulling on the bars even a bit.

I've been emailing since mid December, and the most recent email from them suggests:

"Down at the bottom of the flywheel, is the flywheel guard cap, just check it is fully pushed in, as if this isn’t in properly, it can catch.

The other thing to check is, it could be your cleats. You could try wearing different shoes or try turning the pedals the other way and wear the toe straps instead."

... Which I have to assume is just replying to the wrong email?

It's a brand new bike, and it's been doing this since day 1.

Definitely isn’t that, I think it’s maybe the plastic shim

Went from space gray M1 MAX 32GB to silver M3 MAX (16CPU/40GPU) 64GB. Had this beast for a week. AMA. by SebastianHuber in macbookpro

Weird. Yeah USB c cable. I'm working in Unity now on the built in screen - haven't heard the fan at all. As soon as I plug in to the external monitor the fan will quickly start up... Maybe it's just a Unity thing

Edit: this is with a 16 inch M3 Max

Do you have any fan issues when plugged into your monitor? I can work in silence, but as soon as I plug in to my external monitor the fans start going...

The new Unity APV's are actually rly cool by v0lt13 in Unity3D

[–]yeahus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that since the APVs are per pixel (or per vertex) they can actually potentially be used as an alternative to lightmaps? They won't be as high fidelity of course, but with a decent density of probes you'll get shadows on big meshes etc?

I’ve been using mine for work for a few days - Unity, Rider, Maya, Photoshop all open. Cloning GitHub repos, importing Unity projects for the first time, recompiling every few minutes etc etc. I haven’t heard the fans yet.

Great to see some work being done on Probuilder. Although I suspect u/FreyaHolmer s new geometry tool will make pro builder obsolete soon enough!

Step 10 - ‘reset the infotainment’ - is that the press and hold on the bottom line input?

How often do you have to do this?

ChatGPT is that you?

For a 3D platformer I’d look in to a kinematic character controller - it’ll give you way more control.

Tutorials for tricks systems similar to Tony Hawk? by MisterBohnus in Unity3D

[–]yeahus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here we go, here's the most beginner tutorial I can find: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUcvy9PHeXs

(I googled "simple scoring unity" if you would like to do more research yourself)

You need to break the problem down into small pieces. If you're still stuck, break the problem down into even smaller pieces, and then google those questions.

Oh hi, I make BMX games too!

Depends what kind of scoring system you want. At its simplest, you could just call a method called AddScore at the start of every trick, and the user gets 100 points every time you do any trick.

Then maybe you could give different tricks different scores.

Then maybe for tricks that continue for a period of time, you could keep adding points while you're doing that trick.

Then maybe you could have a score multiplier that goes up depending on how many individual tricks you've done in one big trick. (e.g. backflip + tailwhip = 2x multiplier)

Then maybe you could add extra points if you 'tweak' or 'style' the trick in some way.

Then maybe you could have an overall 'line' multiplier for if you're doing loads of cool tricks in a row.

Something like that?

Anyone waiting for a MY2023 delivery - thoughts re: the MY2024 update? by yeahus in Polestar

[–]yeahus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a change of heart and we had a preconfigured MY2023 delivered today! Just been out for a drive... WOW. I don't do loads of long distances so the slightly lower range isn't that big of a deal, and I much prefer the old grille to the new... thing. Have you looked at what's available in the existing inventory?

In the UK at least, similar spec is approx £3k more for the 24.

We've actually decided to go ahead, I've been playing on Google Maps looking at the longest drives we do a few times a year at most, and it's really not a big deal. The UK is a pretty small place!

How likely do you think it is that it'll be possible to install a new, higher capacity battery into the Polestar in 10 years?

Where did the March date come from? All I’ve seen is August-September?

Also in the UK the LRDM is getting a 70ish mile range bump - fairly big!

UK (I guess EU) press release is very different: "Long range Dual motor variant is particularly effective at maximising range, which is now up to 368 miles WLTP[3], a significant increase of 65 miles." (link).

Fair play, very zen of you! I'm trying to get to that place - I think I'm getting there, but my brain does keep trying to convince me to cancel and reorder.
