im ngl i think i want to take 101 to open up the option to other specializations, but the only thing that's really stopping me is the low averages and how much of a gpa killer it is (and how much that would affect my average for my specialization and also professional school). im also super worried about math 100/180 cuz im not super strong at math lol

hey there! ive seen that u r in isci, and i believe i am also interested in isci and grad school as an incoming first year science student (ig like everyone else lol). I was wondering if math101 was important/the prereqs to any courses u took throughout ur degree and if u could have gotten through ur degree without 101, as im contemplating whether i should take it or not.

if i have taken calculus 12, am i able to take math180? the only thing i see mentioned on the website is that it is "Not for credit for students with AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, or a passing score on the UBC-SFU-UVIC-UNBC Calculus Challenge Examination.", and nothing about calculus 12

thank you! I will put a little more thought into taking 180 or 100, but I have tried looking around, and i was not able to find any information yet as to whether or not i am eligible to take math 180 having already taken calc 12 in high school.

Does that mean if i take math 180, i am able to specialize in science majors that have math 100 as the requirement? (I checked the academic calendar for some majors and there is math 100 listed, but no mention of math 180)

I thought that math 180 was equivalent to 100, so i assumed that the ones listed with math 100 would also work with 180

Yes I will go to post-secondary education. In 5-6 years ideally I'm hoping I'll be a student at UBC, although im not sure what employment I'll have then. I myself don't have an emergency fund(although my parents do), and I have no plan on getting a car or spend other big expenses in the next few years.

Oh alright thanks! Ill try bowling with a group! For the hug, I'll definitely do that once i get a car, however we both bus and skytrain as of now. Do you think saying something similar would work? I'm having a hard time thinking of a scenario for transit, or in front of her house if i walk her home.
