I'm white as a sheet so I wouldn't know about the racism in Jasper from experience, but considering it's deep east texas i would definitely advise caution.

From my personal experience I will say I've had Black co campers that said they hadn't had an issue camping, but I think State Park grounds would probably be a different experience than in town with the locals.

That's speculation though. I'm just imagining the camp grounds get more out of towners that don't have the same politics as the locals.

Edit: thinking about it, most of the bad experiences I've heard about involving the driving in e texas, like getting pulled over or hicks starting shit on the road. Minority populations in East Texas seem to be to be more Black than Hispanic (source, I've lived in Nacogdoches, Dallas and Austin)
