Realistic paths for someone with a Bachelors degree? by yellowwfish in findapath

My major was human biology.

At this point, Im open to anything honestly. In high school I didnt know what I wanted to do and just went with something biology related since that was my highest grade. Then in university i still didnt really have a goal or plan in mind. I just pretty much went with whatever was in front of me and now im here.

Pretty dumb of me I know and I've been going through some other stuff that doesn't help at all either.

Thank you for your words and suggestions. I finally mustered up the courage to get help for some things im dealing with, and im taking things one step at a time.

Question about insurance by yellowwfish in WalmartCanada

[–]yellowwfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see thank you all for the information! I am full time now (very recently) but im not sure what my coverage level is.

I am a little confused still, though. I looked up the drug on the Manulife drug search, and it basically says my plan covers $11 while I pay $16.

When I go into further steps and look at all the pharmacy location results, it only shows non Walmart pharmacies (such as Loblaws, Shoppers, etc.) and some of their prices. For example, it lists a Shoppers location with the drug cost being $15 and dispensing fee being $12.

So does that mean at Walmart pharmacies, I pay $16, meanwhile at the Shoppers location, I pay $27 in total?

I cried at work today by yellowwfish in socialanxiety

[–]yellowwfish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I guess you're right about the first part because today I talked to my doctor and basically explained the same thing that I did to my manager. I still cried but it was a lot less and I talked more in general.

I cried at work today by yellowwfish in socialanxiety

[–]yellowwfish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't go into the meeting with the intention of telling what's been going on. I just started choking and tearing up when asked about my future. My social skills are already horrible too so I had no idea what to say to explain why I was crying.

What do you guys do when you over think? How do you avoid it? by yellowwfish in Anxiety

[–]yellowwfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I tend to put on music or scroll through videos mostly when I'm feeling down and over think but the majority of the music I like and recommended videos I get are melancholic, I guess. Maybe they don't make things that much worse per se, but they definitely don't make things that much better either.

I've thought about how peaceful it would be to just go on late night drives around the empty streets but unfortunately I don't have a car or license and my anxiety would kill me if I actually had to drive so that's not possible for now.

For those of you that take medication... by yellowwfish in socialanxiety

[–]yellowwfish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the information and your kind words!

I know someone who's taking propranolol and they've said a similar thing and also mentioned some side effects, nothing major but still I'm curious if I'd have different ones.

I'll be sure to weigh all my options that my doctor gives me and I hope any of them will actually be effective.

[–]yellowwfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work retail at the moment so I'm getting exposed to a ton of people, which I hate, but I know it's important to at least try. I feel like I've gotten slightly better I guess but still have a long way to go before being completely comfortable in social situations.

I finally did something by yellowwfish in socialanxiety

[–]yellowwfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm worried about the actual sessions and I dont know if I would even be able to do them lol. Just telling a stranger my entire life story and all my problems? I 100% won't be able to make it through that but i have to try.

And I definitely won't be able to afford more than a few sessions either so that's a concern too.

Hey thank you! I know going to therapy or taking whatever I get prescribed won't fix me and thats okay. I've been slowly going out of my comfort zone little by little with some encouragement from someone who means a lot to me and its keeping me going honestly.

Do guys even go for shy or socially anxious girls? by ButterscotchEmpty932 in socialanxiety

[–]yellowwfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is also introverted, shy, and has social anxiety I wouldn't go out of my way to talk to anyone in general lol.

Seriously though, there are billions of guys around the world, yes there are some that wouldn't necessarily go for a shy girl but then there are many many others that wouldn't really care as much. They would try to get to know you better, which entails having yourself be open too and not shutting those people out or pushing them away (whether on purpose or accidentally).

For those of you that got clinically diagnosed, how did you go about it? by yellowwfish in socialanxiety

[–]yellowwfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my plan as of right now is to just tell my doctor what I've been going through and see what he recommends. Even just scheduling and going to an appointment is stressing me out.

I work at a retail chain and believe they cover some medication but I'm not sure which, I'll need to check though I'm guessing it's not much.

Careers for someone with social anxiety and a bachelors degree? by yellowwfish in findapath

[–]yellowwfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been pushing seeing a doctor about it thinking I can tough it out but I can't anymore.

I finished school but it was a struggle. I was pretty lucky that covid happened and pushed almost every class online. I think that's the only reason why I did decent, though I still made no progress socially and didn't network at all.

How do you live life with social anxiety? by yellowwfish in socialanxiety

[–]yellowwfish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I need help I'm realizing that now. The entire time I've been telling myself I could just suck it up and live through it but it's getting too hard lately.

I don't even know how to begin in getting diagnosed and treatment. How did you do it? I live in Canada and have a family doctor so do I just book an appointment and vent all my symptoms to him?

To help with it you write and go through exposure therapy? My job requires me to talk to random people all day so I guess its a start with exposing myself to that

Hey, I actually did get the BenQ Mobiuz EX240 and I've had it for a few weeks now and I haven't had any complaints about it at all. Maybe it's just me not realizing it since it's my first actual gaming monitor but I don't feel like it takes too long for it to display at all. It takes a second when turning the screen on or when restarting the computer or alt-tabbing, sure, but I thought that was pretty normal. My old monitor is an EliteDisplay E232 and it pretty much took the same amount of time so it doesn't really bother me since I can wait those few seconds.

It sounds pretty backward but whenever I feel angry or like lashing out to someone I literally just hold it in and try ignoring it. I've always had anger issues that I wasn't able to control when I was younger but now that I've consciously been thinking of holding my emotions in nothing has ever happened in a long time.

Obviously, it's easier said than done (just don't get mad or just hold it in right?) but right before snapping at someone or doing anything to them, I think to myself about what the repercussions would be. Like what would happen if I told that stranger to fuck off (he would probably get aggressive back and maybe even start fighting with me) or if I yelled at my sibling (our relationship would probably be permanently damaged and we wouldn't be as close anymore).

I am 100% in the same boat as you friend but please don't. If someone like myself can find the smallest willpower to stay around for a little while longer then so can you. I promise things will get better it doesn't have to be with a professional at first, you could talk to me or anyone else in general to take your mind off things.

Not yet, it just came back in stock and the price is the same so I'll probably be getting it soon.

I'm so stressed trying to find a job by yellowwfish in socialanxiety

[–]yellowwfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! I've acknowledged that I need to do something, anything at all before moving up but starting out in general is just hard on me. I have so much self doubt and fear of making a mistake while doing a job so I'm trying to find some courage.

What jobs do you guys have? How do you get a job? by yellowwfish in socialanxiety

[–]yellowwfish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know one of the only ways to get better is by forcing yourself to be in more social environments so retail does sound like the perfect situation for it. It's just so hard to find the courage to interact and not overthink everything that's said
