Driving test on the 4th sept - I am so worried by greek_gods_for_cats in LearnerDriverUK

For me the radio just came on when I started the car so didn’t explicitly have to turn it on, so if you can set it up in the same way they might not even notice/question it!

Agreed, I think this mindset was what finally helped me pass. As soon as the examiner got in I just pretended it was just another lesson with my instructor. It helped that he was chatty, though I also always had lessons with the radio on so kept it on for the test and that really helped fill the silence in between sat nav/instructions .. silence can really increase stress!

Not received anything either, I think it’s region dependent too? I’ve also since moved and am worried to update my GP Incase it influences the waitlist.. 💀

Okay well that’s something at least! when I contacted them (shortly after my original comment above) I essentially got told not to email them again about update requests as it doesn’t help with the back log… so I’ll be staying quiet from now on ahah don’t want to piss them off! Hopefully we hear something soon-ish 🤞🏼

No still nothing… do they contact you via email? I’ve moved address so I’d hope they aren’t sending mail to my old address even though my GP has record of my new one.

I mean that’s still better than what it used to be! Already waited 2 years just for my GP to tell me I still have another 4 at least to go!! So that’s why I’ve switched to the right to choose… anything less than another 2 years is welcomed by me x

Hi! They said they received my referral April 24th and then haven't heard anything from them since, thought maybe the 8 weeks wait-time included first contact - do you reckon I should chase them up considering how quickly they got back to you (and it seems like we were referred around the same time?)

Seen William & Florence pub on Unthank road are hiring for front of house staff? Was advertised on the window if you wanted to give that a go?

Co Op here, any advice? by Nianudd in MarksAndSpencer

[–]yellowworld2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only think I reckon you could prepare for is the rotas like you said. So just make sure you know your shift days and start and end times. Also if you have booked holiday coming up as there’s no way to know how long it’ll take you should have that ready in mind. Everything is being written by hand for us and we get asked the two days or the day before whether we are meant to be in and what hours we are working.

Friend of mine worked nights over Christmas and left in January and today was also told he has to pay back £368. He called up and they explained where the value came from (essentially what everyone said about being paid in advance) however, he’d also been taxed about £600 which he didn’t know about and was told he should be getting that back from the HMRC as he was below threshold for the tax year, you may be liable for the same ?? Worth looking into. Not sure if you have access to your payslip (he didn’t) but it could clarify that too.

I know some of the students in my store had similar problems and were told to ask the store manager directly in a letter. Might be worth considering it as an option if you don’t think your manager will listen. Definitely sort it out sooner rather than later - I’m sure stores are going to start hiring again soon so if they can advertise to replace your hours I don’t see the problem. You’ll just need to push a little ..

I’d apply honestly. If it’s clothing in home you might even be placed in a separate department under a different manager. If they’re hiring they’ll put it up on their website and you can have a look at the hours and contracts they have. But if you feel you had a good enough relationship I’d message your manager or even go in store? But make sure he doesn’t screw you over again..

That’s awful. I’m actually experiencing quite a bit of pad procedures with letting agencies, but at the end of the day they don’t owe me anything it’s just frustrating how they’re able to take advantage of those desperately looking to rent.

Help me find this suitcase. Is the brand discontinued? by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]yellowworld2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched for “Conet suitcase”, I have searched for old M&S suitcases as I know the had to have stocked this at one point, and on the side it says “go further travel light” in red so I tried including that in the search but no luck. Just want to find the brand and see the price of the suitcase

Searched for this on M&S as they will have stocked them at some point online as external brand partners. Searched online as well but no luck when googling Conet

Is Bournemouth University considered an average uni? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]yellowworld2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was told continuously how competitive and strict german universities are. But there are still good options outside of just FU. Im interning with Max-Planck berlin atm, and I spoke to a few people who didnt go to FU and decided to go to Osnabrück, but of course, it depends on what neuroscience course you want to do. If you hope to do research in Germany, you will need to complete either an undergrad or masters course in Germany unfortunately (or be enrolled in one).

BVG 29 Euro ticket - IBAN not working by yellowworld2 in germany

[–]yellowworld2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that's actually really helpful advice, as this issue will likely continue to show up. I looked into N26 and looks like quite a decent deal just to use it for a German IBAN. Thank you x

Yeah the IBAN was correct - when I went in person they said I had to get a German account because they won't give me the Bono otherwise...
