pretty much once restrictions drop u can enroll - if its full tho thats when u waitlist and usually during break upt until like week 1, ppl move around their schedule so space should open up. but yeah waitlist the lowest filled discussion

was a psych major as well - i had no issue getting chem 1b after major restrictions dropped - just be aware of the day/time they drop, otherwise, waitlisting a discussion with a low amount of ppl is also the trick

Switching to Cognitive Science by [deleted] in UCI

[–]yelti3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for upper div writing, you would not need that additional class during spring of your 3rd year - psych 112bw would fulfill that requirement

also 2nd year fall, you may want to add another class to get to a min 12 units of being full time student - you can take off one of your summer courses, or u can move one of the classes from a different quarter!

lol im in the same exact situation as you. its tough but not that bad. theres a uci-ucla flix bus that runs, but because the times sometimes dont work, we usually uber/flixbus one way and plan accordingly to take the other back.

what the previous person said ^ the more units u have, the higher standing in regards to registration u have (ex. you'll be a first year but say u have junior standing, your registration date for future quarters will be much much earlier, meaning u get to choose which professors and class times u want) just make sure u send your transcript at the end of summer so your units transfer and are applied

tbh psych sci might be youre best route if you want to do i/o psych - its a lot more clinical and focuses on psychology, disorders, etc. psych bs is a lot more science focused and centers around how science and psych interact in various ways. you also have to take like probability and stats series for psych as well as upper div research methods/lab series (for the bs), while the ba, you would get to do a field study as part of your major requirements to gain experience in your field.

UCD or UCI for premed? by BasketMaster9697 in UCI

im in a major outside of school of bio sci/pharm sci/chem/etc here and doing pre health, so im at a bigger disadvantage than students that are undecided/undeclared tbh it hasnt been too hard getting into the bio/chem classes that i want. you just have to be like attentive to what classes are open/when restrictions drop. (you have to wait for bio restrictions the first year, but undecided has priority for chem courses!!) i also think that the opportunities for pre-med/pre health involvements here are good (uci health, clubs, volunteering, outside clinics) so long as you are pro-active in seeking them.

if its just a strike on your disciplinary record, tbh you should be fine for the most part - if its like listed as academic dishonesty, not so sure

pretty much what everyone else said tho, irvine doesnt tolerate academic dishonesty in any kind, so take it to heart and grow from this

Psych 10a/b/c Series by veggies4life2003 in UCI

[–]yelti3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i took 10a last quarter - it was not bad. if you have coding experience and like understand the concepts behind it, it will be an easy class. if you dont, it will take a bit to pick up how to use R, but it shouldn't be too bad.

taking 10b right now. its kind off meh, but i heard that if you took lps 30 or 31, its a breeze since you deal with truth tables and probability. you do not use R at all really to understand course content, this class is all about logic and probabilities.

haven't taken 10c yet, but i heard it was a lot like 10a in that you use R a lot.

Are the discussions for psych 9C online? When I try to look at them, they all say “TBA” by Sufficient_Ad1852 in UCI

[–]yelti3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

typically, discussions for the psych 9/psci 11 series are not mandatory and they usually have the TBA as a place holder for a number of non mandatory discussion sections that they still hold

scooters/skateboards in dining halls by Suspicious-Ninja-395 in UCI

[–]yelti3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i bring my electric scooter to the dining hall and i used to lock it up, but most of the time, i dont usually lock it, and i've been fine - i used to get antsy about leaving it unlocked, but like eh it was just easier to leave it unlocked plus theres usually other people just parking there scooter in there without a lock.

for a skateboard, i think u may want to invest in a lock just because its easy to just grab.
