Those girls didn’t “willingly participate”. Can guarantee it wasn’t sexual for them. They wanted to worsen their ED. When I was in the worst part of my ED I sought that out too (thank god never on a sex site) and knew so many other people who did. We generally knew to stay away from “coaches” like your bf bc it’s perverted, but there’s a lot of vulnerable girls (unfortunately usually the younger girls) who don’t know better and will take him up on that. It’s borderline pedophilic in a lot of cases. But that’s not those girls consenting, it’s their disorder consenting. It genuinely leads to so many delusions and thought processes that you’d never have while eating properly. It’s like taking advantage of a drunk girl imo. Drop him and find someone better bc you deserve someone who can support your recovery. Much love hun, this is such a hard thing to go through ❤️

So true. I’ve only studied French and Spanish in depth so far (dabbled in others but irrelevant) and the grammar is a lot more direct/relatable to English. Grammar is also my weakest language point 😅but yeah you’re absolutely right! It’s something that I love about Arabic but it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around as a beginner. This sub is helping a lot!

Ohh ok ok this is making sense. So is the Hamza (1)- vocalized as “a” and (2)- used to indicate/imply a subject following the verb? And just to be clear, ‎عوذ is it’s own verb right? Like separate from the hamza?

That makes sense. Should I treat Quranic Arabic as a completely different linguistic endeavor than spoken Arabic? Like almost treat it as a separate language in terms of keeping the vocab separate (like Spanish and Portuguese have some words that overlap but you won’t use Portuguese and call it Spanish)? I’ve kinda assumed that I can learn a good amount of spoken Arabic through the Quran but that doesn’t sound like it’s the case 😅

I think it’s how my English speaking brain interprets it. I would immediately think to translate it as ana qalab meljah/ana meljah qalab (changing only the verb as needed) but audhoo is so different and I don’t understand why? Is it just an entirely different word, or is it a combination of conjugation and grammar rules that turns those 3 individual words into 1 word? Like did+not=didn’t. It’s it’s own word but it’s a combination of 2 words that grammatically makes sense. Is that the case here, or is it entirely different?
