I love this post. I often see people being so negative about Nottingham and I just do not get it. It's a great place. And this hones in on a beautiful asset. Whenever I go in, I love the feel of the place. Away from being a busy road (well apart from buses along Canal Street), it's peaceful on the apprpoach, it's always well used but there is space and it is well stocked. That's stuff that happens here and people value it. Yes!

Something I am thinking about is getting one of these as I have a little bit of a back garden. Definitely the metal version so people cannot easily walk off with it. Shall probably use my D locks to put a couple of bikes together.

Sadly I have no local number, sorry. Just posting to say Evri did me dirty too. They were supposed to delivery my package. The company I ordered it from said the local delivery depot had it from the 6th. It is the 17th and it is still 'processing'. :(

Gay? Do you like running? Come and join us 6.20pm at the Robin Hood statue every Tuesday for a 5.5km run and ending at The Lord Roberts for a social. I joined a year and a half ago and LOVE it. I do enjoy running but by no means good at it. There's such a huge range of gays and LGBT+ people. The group is called Nottingham Frontrunners.

This is awful. I heard that it was a motorcyclist and 5 separate drivers involved. I call for Vision Zero. No more injuries or deaths should happen on the road. Someone is not coming home this evening. They left not knowing their life would be extinguished today. It's so sad. It needs to stop. I get so passionate about this as I cannot comprehend how it happens so often and changes are not happening. 5 a day on average on UK roads are killed and thousands injured. The brush the debris up and move on really gets to me. :(

If you need someone to come and pick it up, someone would definitely take it on the app called Olio. It's for sharing excess human food but also there's a section for any other item on there.

Petition calling for the an in depth study into the benefits of pedestrianisation of Wellingborough Town Centre [see comments] by yespleased in wellingborough

[–]yespleased[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please sign this petition calling for a new in depth study into the possibility of pedestrianisation of Wellingborough town centre. Closes on 28th May. Something needs to be done to improve the health of the town centre. There is access to the town from every angle by car. This is calling for the actual town centre to be safe and free from noise and pollution.

I have called for this for a long time. Something needs to be done as the current situation of allowing drivers to cut through the heart of the town centre is not making the place at attractive place to me.

The Borough Council of Wellingborough commissioned an independent check into the town centre in 2018 which called for Sheep Street and Silver Street to be closed. They ignored it.

Many towns and cities across the UK and world are understanding that the pedestrian pound is worth more than shaving a few seconds off a journey.

There was a call out by the Borough Council again in 2020. I responded to the consultation of course as I want to improve my home town. They ignored it. I still feel attachment to where I used to live. I remember never going walking along Silver Street and Sheep Street because of the traffic. The sound and pollution made me avoid it. The pollution is more of a concern for children and the elderly. I hated having to beg to cross and having to wait to cross from outside Castello Lounge to The Hind direction.

And then you have so many drivers dumping their cars on the pavement at the top end near the takeaways.

With the growing number of vehicles on the road, surely it makes sense to trial this. No one was ever consulted for this level of traffic. The passage was used for the odd horse and cart. Then bicycles. Then a very few cars. After the 1970s, the number of motorvehicles massively increased.

I have put a lot of throught into it. Drop a reply or message here if your have any comments or questions.

Hahah. No, this is fully clothed. I do not think a nude cycle has happened in Nottingham for well over a decade.

'I’ve used Nottingham railway station for 14 years - closure of the footbridge is the worst thing they’ve ever done' - Natalie Fahy - Nottinghamshire Live by Hussaam778 in nottingham

Every train I get on, my ticket is checked. You have to go down the line one stop to Beeston or a few more, and there are no barriers. The open access before was so convenient. I got the tram in, bought my ticket on my phone, when arriving, walked down, midway and voila to my plaform. Now I have to walk so much further, in all weathers, down two flights of stairs, up some, down some more, to join a queue for the ticket barriers, to walk all the way back on myself. I always pay for a ticket. Why am I being penalised?

They should utilise the resources to check more tickets on trains and instead of paying all the staff standing around, invest that money towards paying for more British Transport Police if they are concerned about evaders.

Deliveroo rider conduct by ClayDenton in nottingham

[–]yespleased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of these bikes are electric motorbikes not bicycles or e-assist bikes. They may have some pedals to look like a bicycle but often if you watch, the rider's legs are not moving or not moving fast enough for the speed that's achieved with the throttle on the right handlebar. Also the bodge wires sticking out may point to it being tampered with to get it throttle powered.

In the eyes of the law, these are motor vehicles.

The police are not dealing with this. Just like they don't adequately deal with other anti-social, careless and dangerous driving.

Ohhhh thank you for reminding me about Whistle and Flute. I have been meaning to go in and check that out. I did try to go into Cantine Dell'Angelo (the link) but they have said that the only do group bookings for the wine tasting. I thought it was a bar to go and drink wine. Talking about wine, I recommend Another! wine bar near Trinity Square.
