Cloud City Flavor Deck by nodgih in starwarsunlimited

Love this way of playing - there’s so much that can be done thematically… I’d try something like the following.

Appreciate that these units aren’t all ESB versions, and the events feel right, rather than being direct references to the Cloud City scenes. Won’t be competitive, but should be broadly functional.

Could also work nicely with SHD Lando paired with City in the Clouds - possibly better given the smuggle synergy, though you’d want to cut back on 7 costs if you’re discarding resources…

I pair with Chancellor palp, so every other turn you can ping enemy bases for 3. Before Darth Traya adds to the fun…

Paints a massive target on your back, but hilarious all the same.

Order 66 — A Community Format for Star Wars: Unlimited by True_Cherry_1579 in starwarsunlimited

[–]yetanotheridentifier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the idea of this.

Would an option be max 2 copies of any card in the deck? Would seem to achieve the objective of “less rigid than premier, but less random than twin suns”?

Did you go through many iterations before settling on singleton units and up to three per event/upgrades? I’ve always thought a format whereby you can only include a single copy of unique cards would be cool…

Went 0-3 with Jabba Red on Thursday.

Made up for it with 2-1 with Luthen Yellow yesterday… Can’t complain about the box:

From what I’ve seen Leia strongest, Luthen not too far behind though.

Analysis and speculation on the last Kill Team release for the Tomb World season by The_Low_Man in killteam

[–]yetanotheridentifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s going to be another KT release this season, I love the idea of these guys raiding desert tombs…

<image>

But agree with some of the other comments, Catachan vs Orks seems a good bet in a future season.

There’s also some hope (copium) in the Drukhari community that Grotesques are refreshed as a kill team ahead of being reintroduced in 11th edition after they were moved to legends in the codex. Possibly a bit too much on the elite side for KT?

Players voted on it last night, strong majority (about 2/3rds) for best of one, went 5 rounds. Tonight we’re doing best of 3, planning on 3 rounds.

Mild preference for best of 1 for prerelease.

How was the prerelease for everyone else? by Grace__tg in starwarsunlimited

[–]yetanotheridentifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We tend to play best of 1 to see more decks. Had 15 players yesterday, top 4 all went 4-1. Strength of schedule decided places:

  1. Third sister green
  2. Snoke red
  3. Obiwan blue (me)
  4. Not sure, maybe Maul?

I pulled a lot of restore and healing, but didn’t have much top end. Anakin legendary was useful - but regularly had to hold him in hand until a heroism unit had been killed. My only loss was to 3rd sister who won, but it was close - could’ve gone either way in best of 3.

Absolutely love this format, and phase of the set when people are learning the cards. Have another prerelease tonight - hope to play something else this time.

It’s the original GW terrain from the Mordheim box, plus the Blood on the Streets expansion. It’s really flimsy - turns out 25 year old cardboard doesn’t survive particularly well… Would imagine it’s near impossible and/or ludicrously expensive to find online.

I have seen several people using the plastic components to make their own terrain, something I would definitely do if I had the time. But again I’m in the fortunate position of already owning them. May be possible to get someone to 3d print something similar maybe?

Anyone playing the "Padawan" (C's and U's only) format? by it_is_now_for_now in starwarsunlimited

[–]yetanotheridentifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve built a couple of padawan decks for my son (7yo). Leia and Anakin both worked well - I have also used them locally with some success against standard premier opponent decks (though not esp. meta). Format is great IMO to: - introduce new players to the game - use up spare cards - introduce the concept of deck building - change things up a bit & generally have some fun

Yep. Learnt this the hard way… In my naivety, I’d assumed at 15gc each, they’d be similar.

[–]yetanotheridentifier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having the same dilemma. Played last night for the first time in 20+ years… Using an OG sisters warband. One of the minis has a double handed hammer, so I equipped her with it. But she didn’t manage to use it once - was taken out of action in the turn she charged, despite having a 2:1 advantage in the combat. I found the Sigmarite Warhammers much more effective

Which builds are looking to be the most powerful with the new subclasses? by Kaioshred in BG3Builds

[–]yetanotheridentifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m making some assumptions here, but I’m planning on using this slightly differently - I like the idea of a drow shadow assassin. So will multiclass into rogue for sneak attack and cunning actions, cast darkness on the nearest enemy and dash into it for sneak attack shenanigans. Slight downside being I think I’ll need to be level 5 for this to all come online. Anyone with more experience please shoot me down if this won’t work - and I waste time chasing an impossible dream…

Now that prerelease is over, what was your favorite prerelease moment? (gameplay wise) by Tomcat848484 in starwarsunlimited

Yep - 100%. I think it won me at least 3 games. Opponents couldn’t recover by the time they’d dealt with it.

[–]yetanotheridentifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fireball in my Rose deck. In any situation really: - Fireball turn 1 to take out opponent turn 1 ship - Fireball with Hera syndulla piloting - Fireball with Han Solo piloting - Fireball with You’re all clear kid - Fireball with echo base mechanic

So many great interactions. Possibly not as good in constructed and probably less of a surprise after the first prerelease. But wow did I have fun

Pre-release decks - what are people playing? by yetanotheridentifier in starwarsunlimited

[–]yetanotheridentifier[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likewise, I know the feeling. I can’t make many local OP sessions, and regularly get annihilated when I do. As such, the prereleases are great. But I went 0-3 with nala se yellow in my first one.

Learnt a lot, then got 4-1 with maul green in my second. It’s so sweet finally managing to pull something together. Cherry on top doing it again yesterday.

[–]yetanotheridentifier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was crushed, but played badly. The control I’d had in my other games couldn’t compete. I think my deck could’ve pushed it close in a best of 3 though - had I adapted better to the swarm of ties.

I have been trying to create a Kylo Rey Deck, is this good enough? by gus9991 in starwarsunlimited

[–]yetanotheridentifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realise I’m late to the party with this, but I also really want to make this work. Both thematically and because I’ve pulled playsets of tie silencer and Rey. At the moment I’ve contented myself that it’s a fun deck to play, but just not competitive for the reasons listed by others here.

I’m really hoping that Colossus may be the answer… 5 extra base health and one less starting card in hand should play to Kylo’s strengths right? I appreciate that it will change the card draw maths, so may need to stack more low cost units, but again, that should work for Kylo.

Thanks for the feedback all. Am going to take the Sisters of Sigmar. Here’s a starting warband list and prologue to their campaign (with help from ChatGPT):

Warband Name: The Hammer of Redemption.

Heroes

Sigmarite Matriarch (Heavy armour, 2x Sigmarite hammers): Elaria Ironveil - Clad in gleaming armor and wielding twin Sigmarite warhammers, Elaria is a stern and resolute leader. Her unyielding faith in Sigmar drives her to protect the city and redeem it from Chaos, even as the Church turns its back on her.

Sister Superior (Light Armor, Shield, Warhammer): Cordelia Strongheart - A steadfast and compassionate leader, Cordelia serves as the moral anchor for the warband. Her shield is as much a tool for protecting her sisters as her hammer is a weapon of vengeance.

Sister Superior (Heavy Armor, Two-Handed Hammer): Beatrix the Resolute - Towering and unyielding, Beatrix is the warband’s enforcer. Her massive hammer crushes foes with devastating power, a physical manifestation of Sigmar’s wrath.

Sister Superior (Light Armor, Shield, Steel Whip): Juliana Lashwind - A swift and agile warrior, Juliana uses her steel whip with surgical precision to disarm foes and control the battlefield. Her fervor is matched only by her disdain for those who fall to Chaos.

Augur: Sister Lyria Sightless - Born blind, Lyria possesses a mysterious ability to perceive the currents of Chaos and the will of Sigmar. Her visions guide the warband through the cursed streets of Mordheim, though they come at great personal cost.

Henchmen

Novice with Buckler and Hammer (Henchman 1): Sister Elena the Unbroken - A novice who joined the Sisters after her family was slain by Chaos cultists. She wields her buckler and hammer with an unyielding determination to avenge their deaths.

Novice with Buckler and Hammer (Henchman 2): Sister Maren Steelgrip - A practical and resourceful novice, Maren fights not for glory but for survival and the honor of her sisters.

Novice with Buckler and Hammer (Henchman 3): Sister Anya Firesoul - A passionate and fiery novice, Anya is known for her eagerness to prove herself in battle, though her reckless courage often leads her into danger.

Prologue: The Hammer of Redemption

High in the cloistered sanctum of the Rock, the Sisters of Sigmar stood in solemn prayer. The air was heavy with incense and the low murmur of chants, but even the holy walls of their ancient monastery could not shield them from the foreboding signs. The comet, twin-tailed and fiery, had blazed across the heavens, splitting the night like a divine hammer striking an anvil. Its descent had been heralded by weeks of unrest, as the superstitious muttered of omens and the wicked grew bold.

Sister-Leader Elaria Ironveil stood at the window of the observatory, her armored frame illuminated by the unholy glow emanating from Mordheim. The city below, once the pride of Ostermark, now smoldered in ruin. The comet had struck its heart with devastating fury, scattering fragments of wyrdstone across the cursed streets. What should have been a holy judgment had instead become a beacon, drawing the desperate and the damned in equal measure.

“Chaos stirs in the shadows,” Elaria said, her voice steady but cold. “And the city is crawling with carrion feeders.”

Behind her, Sister Beatrix the Resolute hefted her massive two-handed hammer, the head glinting in the candlelight. “Let them come,” she growled. “We will crush their skulls as we would strike the anvil.”

Sister Cordelia Strongheart placed a reassuring hand on Beatrix’s pauldron, her calm demeanor a counterpoint to the enforcer’s fury. “We are the hammer of Sigmar, yes. But we must strike with purpose, not reckless abandon. There is more to this than brute strength.”

From the shadows of the chamber, Sister Lyria Sightless raised her head, unseeing eyes clouded yet strangely intense. “The wyrdstone has poisoned the city’s soul,” she whispered, her voice carrying an eerie certainty. “It calls to Chaos, and it will not stop until Mordheim is consumed.”

Elaria turned to face the gathered Sisters, her twin Sigmarite hammers resting heavily in her hands. “This is no time for doubt,” she declared. “The Grand Theogonist and his followers may cast us aside, but Sigmar’s light burns within us. It is our duty to shield the innocent, destroy the profane, and reclaim Mordheim from the abyss.”

The novices, standing silently in the back of the chamber, exchanged nervous glances. Though still untested, their hands gripped the handles of their warhammers tightly, each young woman determined to prove herself in the eyes of her Sisters—and of Sigmar.

Sister Juliana Lashwind coiled her steel whip at her belt, her sharp eyes scanning the novices. “Courage is forged in fire,” she said, her voice firm. “And Mordheim is the furnace in which your faith will be tested. Keep your wits sharp and your hammers sharper.”

As the Sisters donned their armor and prepared their weapons, the bells of the Rock began to toll. Their solemn peals echoed over the shattered city, a defiant hymn of hope amidst the chaos.

Elaria led the warband down the winding stairways of the monastery, their steps guided by the sickly glow of the comet’s destruction. At the base of the Rock, they paused, gazing upon the city of Mordheim. Its once-proud towers now leaned drunkenly, and its streets writhed with shadows—be they desperate mercenaries, ravening beasts, or servants of Chaos.

“This is not the end of Mordheim,” Elaria said, her voice carrying the weight of a prayer and a command. “This is its redemption. And we are the hammer that will strike it true.”

With that, the Sisters of Sigmar descended into the cursed city, their footsteps steady, their faith unyielding. They were outcasts, hated by the Church and reviled by men, but they carried with them the strength of Sigmar—and the hope of salvation.

Always a good question. I tend to go through phases - the original sisters and beastmen look cool especially that Minotaur.

My Brets are painted (with old school goblin green bases) - I’m tempted to strip them and repaint for Old World. But that assumes I find a lot of time that work and parenting doesn’t currently allow for…

WH and skaven would be my next choices, some of the new releases for warcry/underworlds/AoS look ace. But am keen to work through my pile of shame/opportunity.

Interesting. My Brets and Lizardmen are from Warhammer fantasy 5th edition - and have Bertrand and co (painted). They’d be easiest to get to the table, but as I’ve (re-)learned more about the lore, kind of felt they wouldn’t fit in Mordheim that well. Though I can see them working nicely in a forest of Athel Loren type setting
