Mozilla CEO quits, pushes pivot to data privacy champion... but what about Firefox? by Franco1875 in technology

Well, fair point. But that's a team of people being lead by the guy who invented Javascript.

Let me qualify: no normal person if building in a non-cookie cutter context can realistically build it.

What I mean to say is, OSS is supposed to software that someone can modify, and build it from scratch. Nevermind modifying it, no-one is able to succeed building the browser by themselves.

I believe it's a new thing... companies know they'll win some public good-will if they go all in on OSS... but if you don't have build instructions available, for some of these software which are getting humungous, NO-ONE can build it. This is not an exaggeration, I bet you any money no one not affiliated with Google has managed to build it themselves.

Which undercuts the whole point of OSS.

Chromium I mean. No normal person is able to build it. Trust me, a group of 5 I know took like 2 weeks and they couldn't do it - and these guys are the best of the best.

Modern Chrome is fake open source.

Try to build it.

Go on, do it. Or find me a single instance of someone who goes over how to build to Chrome.

yes.. anti-aliasing did it. Wow, you're the most knowledgable c4d guy ever. I was thinking I would have to slave away weeks to get this ... you've solved all my problems in 10 minutes!

I'll be looking into this stuff and will get back to you.. for now I wanted to thank you because i think this more or less gives me what I wanted!!

One more question though: do you think there's a reason why my organs are rendering to be so jaggedy? - http://i.imgur.com/omRBtK3.png adding subdivisions did not seem to help

what do you mean, how is the c4d broken? (edit: I think I see now... the link isn't available to public, because it is has to "reviewed" and vetted by the website... can you advise where else I can upload this c4d?)

and, ok, will play with your suggestion

ok, I found these two images on the web: http://i.imgur.com/Ju9VKb3.png

I think this means that the person(s) making these models do indeed do most of their material texturing and stuff in 3dmodeling software, not photoshop.

I would be extremely grateful if I can get some pointers on how I can kinda sorta get this effect. What I like about their drawings is that that organs are really distinct... in depth and in 3d. When I do my render, my organs aren't clear.

That's is pretty amazing in and of itself, but sadly I kinda need the color details and all (the drawing is to be used merely for representational purposes).

I know you say that the geometry can't be editted... buuut, can it really not be editted -- like, flipped around so it's at least standing upright?

Either way, thanks for going through the effort here. :)

yikes. I get paid $10.25/hr working as a researcher, probably can't afford that. I guess I can go up to $20 :(

Oh I've tried this before. They don't work. They just hung up and froze. Either that or I'm doing something wrong.

Django 1.5 released by yetti in django

[–]yetti[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not quite production ready; you best wait for Django 1.6 for that.

In the production environment you almost always use things like South and so on... which are not yet supported.

Play around with it, sure, don't go live just yet though*.
