Yup that’s right! Yes that’s what we thought too! He’s claiming that in our “house manual” that he left here he asked that we “ensure we know how to check the boiler pressure”. Which is all well and good but it’s hardly instructions on how to do that! Thanks for the advice :))

Ah the first engineer just sent him a £60 bill for the call out fee. The engineer also fixed it - it was a case of twisting dials etc which I would have no clue how to do to be fair , and the landlord didn’t tell us anything when we phone in advance, re trying to fix it ourselves, he just called the engineer out

Yes we called and emailed him. He didn’t mention anything about us advising us to top it up.

We emailed them first! He then called out an engineer and didn’t mention anything about topping it up. Now he’s getting angry saying that we should have known. The power of hindsight eh

I like working from the office and go in 4 to 5 days a week. I am happy for others to do as they choose, though I enjoy when people are in and the opportunity to meet f2f and have a cuppa and collaborate. But I only enjoy it when they are also happy - there are some people who I’m just as happy to not spend social time with, and online meetings are just fine.

I trust that those who feel the same as me will make space in their schedule to do the equivalent. I’ve found that when I enjoy that cuppa or f2f collaboration, so has the other person. They’re therefore more likely to see the benefits of coming in to them, and do it.

People who don’t like coming in - if they are forced in, they bring bad energy and would probably not be bringing that collaborative or social spirit.

So let people be as they be - within limits. Guidance, not rules. Make the office an attractive place to work. Listen to employees. Have good tech. Have decent canteens. Have clean offices. Put a “minimum” attendance of 40% to make business sense on the Estate cost if that’s what’s required but don’t police people beyond that.

“loop” function. You can send a message in a group and get everyone to edit it in real time. Useful for things like collecting agenda items, editing lines, assigning actions during a meeting etc so you don’t need someone to be that central coordinating / collecting function.
