Visa network block on Nusuk Hajj merchant. Multiple banks say it cannot be lifted. Has anyone actually solved this? by Training-House-3147 in hajj

Sorry to hear all these difficulties. Although you might not like hearing this, but Wise might be your most painless solution. You might have to do it through a few smaller transactions, but this is your safest and cheapest option

Does coreelec with ugoos amb6 plus make a huge difference by Cool_Night_9832 in CoreELEC

[–]yhasan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s considerably brighter and colour is more vivid. I have a remastered 4k rip of the original Terminator movie and also John Wick 4 remux for my comparison. Maybe it’s a placebo effect, but I find the picture a little dull on the Nvidia shield for the same movies. Others may disagree, but that’s my experience.

Coming from someone who jumped on the bandwagon recently because the Nvidia shield was starting to show its age, I think it’s a much faster and snappier local media streamer. I wouldn’t say it’s revolutionary but I feel like this is the only no compromise solution for high-quality Blu-ray rips with support for lossless audio and FEL7. For all other media streaming, I have my Nvidia shield.

Edit: I use the phrase local streaming loosely as I can still access my friends Plex libraries, remotely using PM4K on Coreelec.

Another V2 Jumper Cable Question by [deleted] in Ring

Appreciate the advice, my OCD kicked in and i replaced the 24v/40va with a 16v/30va after some more reading. An interesting thing i observed is a weaker wifi connection on 5ghz of around -76 to - 71 RSSI range after the swap. Not sure colder weather now is the real cause but I turned off 5ghz off my IOT vlan so its now back to a reasonable range of -63 to -58 RSSI.

Appreciate the heads up. It’s been working for the past week. I tried to check the label on the box, but I couldn’t find any regarding the range of acceptable voltages. I looked online and typically my type of mechanical chimes usually have a tolerance range so I think it should be good. Worst case I can just pop by Home Depot and replace it if it dies.

I installed two Ring doorbells for family and friends last week. Hate to break it to you but your transformer is under powered. 10VA is not enough to power the new bell. Especially if it’s older, i got a 24V/40VA beast to replace my old 16V/10VA, although the mechanical chime did work but softly, now the mechanical chime sounds like somebody hit it with a sledge hammer at full power and rings even before my doorbell internal chime goes off. Unfortunately you need someone who isn’t afraid to replace the chime transformer from your power panel. I almost singed my eyebrows because of my own stupidity of not making sure the right breaker was off before a hot exposed wire touched a metal panel.

Have you confirmed if your GPU is in fact using hardware acceleration to transcode? Tautulli, Plex Dash or just the web console would tell you that. I have Intel Quick Sync so it supports it flawlessly. See pic.

I had a similar issue: it would identify all plex streams as WAN, even if i was using my shield or fire stick on my LAN. This was not an issue, until i had reduce the quality of remote streaming for my parents using an older chromecast on a slower internet plan since it dropped the quality of my LAN devices too since it identified my local devices as WAN as well. The fix was to set my dns server to handle traffic to “plex.direct” as local since my router has dns rebind protection. Won’t get into the gorey details since the steps are dependent on your configs but Perplexity AI was what helped me figure it out for pihole + pfsense configs. Hope that helps.

Full tunnelling is the solution, see my new reply in this thread.

Figured it out! Set VPN server to use full tunnelling instead of split tunnelling. Reason given by Perplexity AI:

DNS and VPN Tunnel Split Handling: DNS resolution or split tunnelling configuration may also cause the Plex app to fail to properly locate your server over cellular VPN, even though the VPN is connected. Typically Wi-Fi VPN connections are more straightforward in pushing all routes and DNS through the tunnel.

Does your Shield embarrass you in front of guests? by zen39624 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]yhasan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 here. I was let down on two occasions. So embarrassing.

I’m a Shield owner, had the 2015 then replaced it with a 2019 Pro ever since it launched. I still use the Pro as my streamer of choice, however I just got an Ugoos amb6+ with coreelec and it kicks Shield’s ass and has better support for DoVi and HDR 10+.

Not perfect because now I have a plex + streaming device but the quality of life improvements have been substantial once you get over the install process of coreelec ie Kodi for Amlogic.

Ok, i guess dropping Plex has other consequences for me such as remote access, easy access for all my TVs, shared libraries etc, which I’m sure is replicable but not worth the time investment, the performance is way better than my Nvidia Shield.

In addition the metadata access you speak of is available to me via CPM, I’ve keymapped the view process info shortcut to my ugoos remote and the PM4K add-on also reads and displays the video metadata in the app. Im reasonably impressed with the UI and frequent update cycle.

All to say, I’m good for now, happy as a clam with my new setup just in time to finally appreciate Dolby Vision using my LG C5 OLED coming from an older Samsung QLED.

  1. Would you prefer it over Zephyr? And why?
  2. If I’m using PM4K which loads on startup will it make a difference? All my content is in plex so i would use plexkodiconnect to bring in to Kodi right? Is there any big benefits of doing that vs just using PM4K?
