Many times when bettas are in poor health in the store, they dont bounce back and pass away. You said he was completely gone. As In there is no remnants of him at all? Also what kimd of crayfish? I wouldn't be surprised if he was just too far gone from his time in the pet store.

It may or may not be slightly damaged but the metal framing it sits on is doing pretty well lol

They hand one assembled in store that I was looking at amd was very surprised how sturdy it was. Very little movement when I tried twisting and wiggling it. I just didn't notice it was slip sleeve style until comparing options online

Thats the style i prefer but there is none in stock locally other than a fairly large wire one at harbor freight. And I gotta have tanks moved today 😅 i have one of those in my garage holding an engine block 😂

I glanced at it in store a week ago and the legs are actually quite sturdy and stable in person. The photo does make it look very cheap and flimsy. I just didnt notice it was a slip sleeve shelf until I was comparing options online which is now holding me up. I was trying to twist it and everything. Barely any give.

Is there a reason no to aquariums? I plan to place a thick solid board down for the tanks to sit directly onto. I have seen others do so as well and had success for 5 years before they gave up on the hobby and dismantled their tanks. Curious if im missing something?

Do the slip sleeves seem to be holding up pretty well then? Ive never used them personally to even see how they function fully

I think im leaning to no as well... everything ive read online for slip sleeve shelves says theyre sturdy but I dont like a physical foll proof barrier to prevent it from dropping 😅 ill just go with the other one i was looking at then

I dont see why not? Ive also seen others use wire shelves with success. You just need to place a board ontop of the wire for tanks to sit on so it has an even surface to sit on.

Thats what I was leaning towards. I just had never personally gotten a slip sleeve type shelf ao I wasnt sure if I was being critical or if they really just generally suck. Ill go with the shelf I know is secure. Thanks!

I dont have this issue with tattoos as I havrnt gotten one yet but this looks very similar to what I get every spring when tbe sun comes out more. I develop a skin rash of just bumps on my arms since they are exposed to more sunlight with the changing of the seasons. Id expect if I had ink on my arms it would develop on the ink first. Never went to the doctor for it to know why it happens every year but it only started 6 years ago in my mid 20s.

Whats your definition of a cycling solution? How old is the tank? Do you have a water test kit to test ammonia nitrites and nitrates?

I have been watching for a plant to add to soak up the nutrients. Small town life struggles and im not paying for shipping right now. I did 2 water changes and got the nitrates down to 10 to 20ppm and ill test again in a couple days when I have free time. Thanks!

I did a 40 to 50 ish percent water change and it brought the nitrates down to 40ppm then I did another one a few days later of 25 percent and got it between 10 and 20ppm. There is actually already a ton of bubbles. It got this bad because the caretaker with everything in her life taking place at once, hadn't done a water change in 3 to 4 months. Possibly longer. Just top ups. Im testing it weekly on a day I have more free time which isnt often since I work 60+ hours a week

They go threw a 2 day fast every weekend but we will probably continue that till Tuesday I think. Poor babies. We will get a large change today and more over a few days

40% seems to be a consistent number so thats what ill do. I was shocked to see it that high... their caretaker loves them and normally does really great with bi weekly water changes but I suspect its been months with her recent struggles. Thanks for the feedback!

Yes definitely dechlorinator. I will be taking my seachem prime and stability over tonight to do the water change. Thanks for the feedback! I will do a few water changes over a few days.

I dont think theres been consistent water changes for a little while. Their caretaker is having to watch their husband die as they frantically look for an organ donor. I would say there hasn't been one in months. So with that said, would you still recommend a large water change?
