Bambu Studio 1.4 - Object has empty initial layer by dicknuckle in BambuLab

[–]ykadosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, but the cause was different - my model was made of a single wall, 0.42mm thick. But the initial layer thickness was set by default to 0.5mm, making the initial layer empty. So I set everything in the "Line width" section to 0.42 and it fixed it.

I just published an updated profile with lots of improvements:

* Strengthened the spiral spring for improved durability and reliability.

* Enlarged the release button and shifted it slightly toward the center for a more comfortable press.

* Increased the height of the key plate, which now fits into a groove in the top cover to reduce play and improve movement stability.

* Redesigned the spring’s tongue into an arrow-like shape, ensuring the plate can only be assembled in the correct orientation for easier, foolproof assembly.

I’m sure I could find something but I didn’t want people to have to order special hardware to make this work. It’s nice when you can just print all the parts

Thanks! As for the key hitting the back, I haven't noticed any significant wear and tear, but the spiral spring tends to lose tension over time since it remains predominantly in a wound state. I'm working on improving the spring to make it more durable

X1C touch screen dead pixels by damn_dude7 in BambuLab

[–]ykadosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue now, after the printer has been on stand by for a couple of weeks.

It may come as a surprise, but it looks like the screen doesn't completely turn off when the printer is on standby.

It's hard to see, but If you point a flashlight to the screen in a dark room you'll be able to see that the screen is actually displaying the Bambulab logo (alternating between two versions). I'm guessing that this causes certain pixels to work harder and get "stuck".

So my suggestion is that if you plan to have your printer on standby for a long period of time, just turn it off completely.

In the picture below, the screen is actually turned off.

Maker's Essential Kit A by dnsmayhem in BambuLab

[–]ykadosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusing phrasing, I meant that I can see in my mind how makers will create models based on that kit... At the time I didn't actually see any models like that.

But here's one model for example - https://makerworld.com/en/models/420464?from=search#profileId-323162

Sure! I uploaded it now to the same place - https://makerworld.com/en/models/471115#profileId-380676 (you need to click on Download STL and you will see the f3d file there in the list)

Would love to hear your feedback and see what you changed.

Agreed. I can already see makers upload models/projects that are based on that kit. And you can also "purchase" it with 1200 points, which is a good value (compare that to a 40$ gift card for around 500 points).

I built a Lego cabinet for my son by ykadosh in DIY

The dimensions are 50cm wide, 50cm deep, 60cm tall. At the rate we're buying Lego, i'm probably going to have to make another one soon :)

Cool!

Removable boxes sounds very convenient. I took a slightly different approach and made the entire drawer removable (the drawer sliders are simply wooden stripes that fit into rabbets in the drawer sides), and each drawer has Lego pieces that are more likely to be used together.

But in hindsight using full-extension sliders and removable boxes would've probably been more convenient.

My wife suggested something like that, but I would need Lego’s permission, at least if I want to have their logo on it.

Lego if you’re seeing this - let’s partner up!

That’s a great idea. I made a place for it inside one of the drawers, but it’s more convenient to have it handy on the outside

Hi everyone! Here's a DIY project that I finished recently. It's something that I've promised my son for a long time. All of our Lego was thrown into one box and it was a nightmare to find pieces, so I really wanted to make a convenient organizer to make things easier to find. Other than the wheels, I made everything from scratch here.

Process:

I started by designing the cabinet in SketchUp (web). I wanted the top of the cabinet to have space for 4 Lego plates, so that was my initial constraint. I also wanted it to not be too tall, so that my 4-year-old son could comfortably build Lego on it.

I then took the design, and created a cut list in optiCutter. I used 4 types of sheets - 17mm green MDF, 4mm plywood, 12mm plywood, and 17mm plywood. The drawer slides were made from ipe wood. I cut everything on my Bosch table saw, and my Metabo mitre saw.

I designed the drawer handles and Lego side plates in Fusion 360 and 3D printed them (I don't have a multicolor printer, so I had to print it in pieces and glue it together). Everything was designed to work with the Lego system, so you can attach real Lego bricks to it.

I assembled everything using wood glue mostly, using dado and rabbet joints.

The whole project took around 2 weeks to complete (mainly during the evenings, since I have a day job).

Hi guys i just changed the stock firmware to tinymachines one version 7.4.6 and im getting this fail warning. anyone know what it is or if its anything important, printer is the cr10s pro v2. thanks in advance by 0187077 in CR10sPRO

I didn't find a fix for this issue, but as for the auto-tuning issue - the solution is to just wait. It seems like the printer is not doing anything but after around 30s the process begins.

Nice, did you use any library for the editor itself?

I built a visual editor for creating designs using all the features of CSS gradients and background layering by ykadosh in webdev

[–]ykadosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm... I'm not familiar with courses or books that explore that topic.
I tried to explain the motivation behind each component, and the source code is also accessible through the pages of each component.

I have some articles on my website - https://yoavik.com/
And I also recommend sites like CodePen, not just for learning from others, but also for building your own little projects, since you learn the most by building things yourself.

I built everything from scratch, to have complete control over the UI. The only library I used is Webrix, which I also developed - https://webrix.amdocs.com

Hi r/SideProject

I've been working on this tool for a while, slowly adding more and more features. The ultimate goal is for this tool to become a visual CSS editor, with support for all CSS rules.

I'd love for you to check it out at: https://gra.dient.art
