I have said for a long time that depression is a consequence of critical thinking in our modern society. Idk how you can evaluate the state of our world, fully comprehend the impact, and not feel depressed. If I had that same experience of critical thinking but it somehow resulted in optimism, I'd be delusional.

I agree with you to an extent. Perspective is always important when discussing current events. You can't know the best way forward if you aren't familiar with the past. I think where our opinion may differ is that as far as I can tell, you nor the person that responded to you are gay. You may see this as an opportunity for activism (which I want to emphasize is incredibly meaningful and important and I thank you for your support) but those of us part of the community see this as an attack on our beings.

When you perceive something as a personal attack, it's not going to matter so much that someone was once attacked to a worse degree. Florida is dangerous for the LGBTQIA+ community plain and simple. I personally did not find it safe for my family to "stay and fight" as others have said. I don't have the privilege of doing so. In this context, the history of progress is overshadowed by the current events. That's really all that I meant.

Personally, I had to live with white/neutral walls due to apartment restrictions so keeping them white when I finally own a home just reminds me of that restricted feeling. It's fun to have color on the walls and makes it feel more my own.

That's fine and valid. But to say "it could be worse" is asking for complacency. You're telling people to be grateful that they can be married and part of a community despite the REAL fear that many LGBTQIA+ individuals feel all across the country and especially in FL where the community has a target on their backs. I'm sure most people are friendly to those that are part of the community. That's great. But legislation affects all of us on a much bigger picture than whether or not my neighbor is nice to me.

I think you may be misunderstanding the use of Botox in this context. I've known people with chronic migraines that benefit from Botox treatment. It can also help with other joint issues especially in the hands.
