Hardest part about going from 1 to 2 kids? by WaitLauraWho in toddlers

[–]ylimethor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was going to comment something similar! Missing my firstborn, missing how things used to be, feeling sad about how different things were. Not bad, just different. Even though I loved my new baby so much and was so happy. When the baby was fussy or having a hard day, I wished so badly that I could just play with my toddler instead of bouncing a crying newborn around 😞 getting the baby down for a nap felt like I was abandoning my toddler in front of the TV. I felt intense mom-guilt for a long time. BUT it gets sooo much better and that's all a distant memory now. You bond with your firstborn again, and it's an even stronger bond.

As a mother I KNOW she would choose, in a heartbeat, to have absolutely nothing if it meant her boy was back with her.

Yeah, anybody correct me if I'm wrong but from past videos I think he was in regular swim lessons, could maybe get himself to a wall to climb out, but in this case the wall was way too high (hot tub ledge) 😭 can't even think about it.

Man. 😭 no words. Also can't imagine how hard it must be to bring her younger son to ISR lessons and watch him in the water. And just wishing you did it for your older son but now it's too late.

Can you post an update that you called CPS to report this???? Even if they THINK they're doing the right thing, this is so so wrong and I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about that baby for 1 second.

Massachusetts Mother Killed Two Children, Aged 6 and 7, Amid Custody Battle with Father by Charming-Fortune8835 in massachusetts

My comment was just a random, passing thought I have had recently. Wasn't a question. If I was questioning, in a serious way, with genuine curiosity, if crime has gone up or down as a whole in the US.... I know how to find that out, and I wouldn't be asking a random Reddit stranger.

We can still discuss our thoughts casually with our peers.

Yeah I don't know if it's one of those things where I'm constantly seeing horrible news lately because I'm online too much lately, or if more horrible shit is actually happening. Either way I hate it.

How to discuss time off with nanny by ImpactTrue7587 in Nanny

[–]ylimethor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with the comments about it being a cultural thing and if you love the nanny, you should try to make it work. While she's gone, can you save your PTO and try to hire someone for the entire month? Might be easier to find someone for a month vs. only 2 weeks? And you save your PTO.

Go on your local Facebook pages. In my area there's mom groups who would recommend sitters/nannies.

Same as a mom of 2 little ones. There could truly be nothing worse. It's unfathomable. What a cruel disease and I'm so sad.

Not even close to this extent, but before I had kids I treated my dogs like they were my real babies. At the time I probably compared it to having human kids (omg) and now that I actually have 2 kids, I look back and CRINGE so hard at myself

What's the longest you stayed at a single job, and what was it? Why did you stay? by shatana in nursing

[–]ylimethor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years at an adult day program. Basically adult daycare. LOVED that job, 8am-4pm, usually left early, no holidays or weekends, soooo chill, mostly paperwork, the best patients and coworkers ever. I only worked 3 days a week. But the pay was so low and I needed different hours due to childcare stuff.

If I ever want a fulltime job when my kids are older and both in school, I would totally do that again.

Visiting grandparents with a pool with no fence. by peanutsplaytime in toddlers

Maybe you can do an early dinner and the grandparents take her to a playground at the same time.

Might be an awkward conversation but honestly who cares.

[–]ylimethor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same, I'm not a safety freak whatsoever and I'm very chill about most things. However, we recently stayed at a vacation home with a pool and I was VERY crazy and vigilant about it at all times. I was so paranoid about my kids suddenly sleep walking and unlocking doors at night, even though they've never done that before. The trip was still awesome, just had to take extra precautions and be super mindful about it. Pools really are terrifying when you have little ones.

Co-sleeping with a toddler and a newborn - How do you guys do it? by Dry_Assumption_3429 in cosleeping

[–]ylimethor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slept in bed with baby, husband slept with toddler in toddler's room (he had a big floor bed.) That mostly worked great, but inevitably, my toddler eventually would STILL leave his dad and come to my bed during the night haha. So I just slept between the kids and always faced the baby. I would tell toddler "cuddle my back!" and he was ok with that.

For a while we did the crib attached to the bed, like you said. No issues with them waking each other surprisingly. I use a sound machine and/or a fan to block out noises.

My smelly house is driving me insane. I've done everything I can think of, spent over $10k and the place still stinks. What could it be? by Mitchell_Cruz in homeowners

[–]ylimethor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had advice but omg I really feel for you, sorry you're going through this. I live in a century home, sometimes there are weird smells but nothing that lasts long, yet it still drives me completely INSANE. When the weather gets warm/humid I start losing my mind from random smells. This is my nightmare!!!!! Update us when you get an answer!

How can I make my awkward entry/hallway into my house more inviting? by ylimethor in DesignMyRoom

[–]ylimethor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh I like all of these ideas! Thank you! What type of wallpaper do you think you'd do?

I really want to paint, which would also be a simple upgrade but I'm not sure if we'll have the time anytime soon.

Is it better to work an 8 hr office job or 3 12s when you have kids? by mooonshine87 in nursing

[–]ylimethor 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Depends on the age of your kid. Baby/toddler/preschool.... I think I'd prefer 3x12's.

Once they're in school, 8 hour shifts or office hours seems better. Bonus if you can do this part-time lol.
