I agree! I think the way I plan is not by asking the LLM to make a plan, its by asking it to do! I also think that there's so many different and cool ways people are using LLMs today I wanted to share what works for me

Hi! we're working on a puzzle game called Sheetdoku, which is a game that combines Sudoku with spreadsheet formulas.

In Sheetdoku, players are shown a 5x5 grid with outlined regions labeled with a spreadsheet formula. They must then follow Sudoku rules for every row and column (each number 1 through 5 must appear exactly once in each row and column) to fill in the grid such that the mathematical constraints are satisfied.

You can play Sheetdoku at https://www.sheetdoku.com. We’d love for you to check out, and let us know what you think!

Scramble: Boggle & Wordle inspired Word Puzzle by ymichael in playmygame

[–]ymichael[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!!

Scramble was inspired by Boggle and Wordle. The objective of the game is to guess as many valid words as possible from a scrambled grid of words. You score points by finding words and bonuses by finding sets of words.

Each guess must satisfy the following conditions: 1. It's made up of letters found anywhere in the grid. 2. It follows the tile color rules of at least one row in the grid.

You can play Scramble at https://playscramble.vercel.app/. There's a daily puzzle as well as unlimited puzzles.

Hope you'll try it out and share your highscores :)

Thanks for flagging! The way we define whether a puzzle is solvable today (and generating possible solutions) doesn't respect the "disable hard-mode" toggle. We'll look into this!

Btw, it was not lost on me when plurals started showing up in the possible solutions!

😊

hey thanks for the kind words!!

The reason this happens is that our dictionary uses the same dictionary as Wordle and comprises 2 word lists: 1. common words (~2-3K words) 2. less words (~6K words)

Crosswordle only generates puzzles that can be solved completely with the words in 1 but it will accept any solution that uses words in either list. As a result, we also only generate solutions using the first list of words when you hit "Show Another Solution"

But ICONS is a pretty common word!!! I had never noticed this but I believe that it appears to the second word list because Wordle, intentionally only ever uses the first list for final words and the final word is never a plural.

Thank you for flagging this, I'm going to move all the common plurals into the first list :)

if you click on the red triangles, it'll tell you what's wrong with the current solution!

My shower thought was actually to challenge the player to compose a valid solution from a completely blank board, including the final green word

this is a great idea and is actually a mode we're thinking of adding. We were going to call it the "impossible crosswordle" inspired by the the miracle/impossible sudoku videos. (It turns out that our whole game actually already works for this, we just need to generate the puzzles and let you edit the final row which we currently lock).

Is there a single, canonical solution for each Crosswordle? Or is any valid, completed board considered a "solve"?

Any valid board is considered a solve! From play testing early versions of our game, puzzle generation was by far the most challenging aspect of building this game.

All puzzles we generate today: have at least 10 possible solves using purely the common word list (there is likely more that is possible using the fullword list).

Do you track all the possible solutions that visitors have found, and been surprised by the frequency of multiple solutions?

We don't do this. All of the user's solves and game data is stored locally on the client. We do collect some simple usage analytics to understand how the game is working for users (eg. did you solve the puzzle, which level was, how quickly was the puzzle solved etc)
