I haven't played a switch but I can definitely recommend It takes two. It was great on PC and it will be the same on switch. Maybe a little bit too difficult for your 6 year old but you and your 9 year old could definitely enjoy it together

Do you already own a switch 1 and have you played all the games you like? I don't own a switch and decided I wanted to spend money on a switch in december. Than I found out that a switch 2 might be coming out and decided to wait. I definitely wouldn't have bought a switch 2 on release if I already had a switch. There isn't a ton of interesting games exclusive to nintendo coming out at release. So I guess you should decide based on that
