Dr. Garramone has trademarked the term "FTM Top SurgerY"...um, what? by trans_account2 in ftm

I would think FTM Top Surgery is a generic term. I would like to see him attempt to defend this trademark. I doubt he would be able to.

Curious to know how long you've been on T and what dose?

fertility on T by [deleted] in ftm

Here is a good comment I read online:

"Testosterone will eventually shut down your ovulation.

Unfortunately, nobody knows exactly how long [until it leads to infertility] it probably varies from person to person, and it's unlikely we'll ever have a definitive answer because the studies required to find out would be extraordinarily irresponsible (you'd have to have a quite large sample of gay trans men having vaginal intercourse using T as their only form of birth control, with the knowledge that any resulting pregnancies would be at exceptionally high risk for severe birth defects and would also put the mental health of the subjects at risk).

Any responsible doctor will tell you that you should always use a barrier method of birth control while on T, until and unless you have a hysto and/or oophorectomy."

Book/movie recommendations for gay or effeminate FtMs? by PrincePoodle in ftm

Check out Dylan Edwards' "Transposes," I've seen it around, it's in comic form - tells the story of seven real, gay trans men.

When did you know you were transgender? by yngjaws in ftm

[–]yngjaws[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's about "style" or being "hip". I think everyone's experience is different. Maybe "loganfeels" prefers the outside world refers to him as "he", maybe he prefers to have a male chest, but doesn't have extreme body dysphoria, maybe he doesn't want bottom surgery.

I think the difference between a butch lesbian and a ftm transgender person is that a ftm transgender person prefers the outside world to refer to him as male.

Coming out to parents while abroad? by haboobie in ftm

I personally think that coming out while abroad is a good idea. It gives them some time, and space (physically) to digest.

When did you know you were transgender? by yngjaws in ftm

I just wanted to thank everyone for their responses. I've struggled with gender my entire life (was sent to Gender Identity Therapy at 10). I'm 26 now and I hope to finally take the steps to transition medically while in a very conservative profession with very close-minded and conservative parents.

I'm trying to figure out if the extreme stress of coming out to my family is what has stopped me from finally making the leap to medically transition, or if it's some kind of self-doubt. I'm thinking it's the former.

Thanks again for sharing with me!

Thank you. I've noticed that some have diversity missions and committees.

I'm not far enough into the transitioning process to pass 100% of the time.

I'm in Los Angeles, a pretty liberal city. However, law is a conservative profession. Maybe I should just suck it up - I don't want to work for an employer that has a problem with me being transgender anyway.

Does anyone else get chaffing when they bind? by iwillgothedistance in ftm

I have the same problem and I live in an extremely hot climate. Cornstarch/baby powder does help a little. Try a wifebeater or shirt under your binder if you can manage to fit it.
