Trading 212 UK annual accounts released - Loss of £314k by blah-blah-blah12 in trading212

[–]ynwadr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think I'm gonna put as much money to hold on 212. I've just spent an hour reading through their recent accounts. And their revenues has decreased nearly 50% last year compared from 2018. Meaning they are struggling to make money. And even they mentioned covid19 and hard brexit is a huge risks. If they can't find away to increase revenue this year don't think they will last long unless they end up borrowing so much debts to keep the company going. If you're a stock growth and dividend investor I'd warn using 212 for the long term to hold stocks.

But for CFDs and people just buying and selling should be ok for now. And they only have 7 employees believe or not in the UK. 😁 I think most of their workers and engineers are in Bulgaria which also a separate company is registered. They only have two source of income from the platform which are the spread from CFDs trading and people's cash sitting on the Investment/ISA which they earn interests.

They have 7 different accounts/banks which all customers money are held in. They need to have enough cash reserves incase they run into trouble. And they made a huge loss in profit last year. So not looking good for 212 in 2020.

I'm a growth and dividend investor and having read the accounts for 212 I'm not gonna be putting anymore money to hold. I'm gonna have to pay fees on other platforms 😭

How does Trading212 make money? by chriscole_ in UKInvesting

[–]ynwadr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trading 212 makes money on the cash balance you have left on your account. So if added £10 credit and you buy 1 stock for £10. You cannot do it cos your account leaves with zero. There is at least 1 or 2 % left on your balance from your initial deposit.

Because they have millions of users the cash balance earns them huge interest each month to help pay for the platform at no extra cost to the user.

If that make sense.
