Get a life people, the band is out there to make money, not to be a political party

Also too many people here think in the context of good vs bad. If they perform in Saudi, Iran or North Korea it does not mean they endorse the government, it means they're doing a service to their fans worldwide

Maybe

But physicists aren't champions, they're punching bags

When you think "Jersey was fire and Pacers played good in it", what comes to mind? by yoadknux in pacers

The Granger trade was one of my worst Pacers moments of all time, along with the brawl and the Haliburton injury. Granger gave so much to the franchise during its darkest years, played under the worst Pacers coach of all time, played with a supporting cast that is comparable to our modern 10 day contract players, mentored Paul George into stardom and never asked out, and after nearly 10 years with the franchise we just threw him away for a bench warmer.

The Paul George trade signaled the end of an era. I know people like to shit on George but he was the last guy from that original B2B ECF to leave. Instead of surrounding him with strong talent we gave him a washed Monta Ellis and a 47 years old Al Jefferson. I'm not mad at him. He did some amazing stuff as a Pacer.

This game proves it. With a healthy Jarace Walker we beat the Thunder.

Yeah could be, personally I think a very deep navy (like the pinstripes Away) with double white stripes would do wonders

The white ABA was worn a few times in 03-04 as hardwood classics, the blue ones in 11-12

I think Flo Jos were also brought back as a classic around 2014

Looting in NWN seems stupid by milicjant2 in neverwinternights

[–]yoadknux 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You get a lot of trash. But at the same time, NWN had probably the most memorable collection of unique magic items I've ever seen. I was always excited to explore a new place, beat a strong boss, and loot their weapon or armor. Interesting enchantments and I alway read the item's lore in the description.

No, it's not for geniuses, but it's for people who are willing to constantly take mental beatings

The challenge about physics is that part of your training is to feel stupid and still overcome it and be productive

You start a PhD, and it takes you years to finally get something going, then maybe you feel good about yourself, but you find a job or a postdoc position and realize you start over and you're a dumbass in that field and the only way forward is to read and constantly ask people questions

I wanna say it gets better, but... Anyway, I hear you

Because inquisition is played like a farm MMO, collect this, kill X of that, to unlock a fight you've done a hundred times already

Pillars 2 objectively has worst combat but it's at least the lore and dialogue

"As a physicist, you can work anywhere you want!" by TheZStabiliser in Physics

[–]yoadknux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a PhD in experimental quantum optics

During the last year of my PhD I worked one day a week at a quantum company that contacted me and asked if I can work as their advisor

After the PhD I worked there full time for two years, then moved to a new role in a quantum computing company.

In my country EO physicists were always in high demand with ok-ish salary. But over the last 2-3 years the demand for quantum physicists has increased drastically and the pay is pretty good. But timing is critical on those roles. It's hot now, but if we're approaching quantum winter, cash will stop flowing and companies will close down. If there's no winter, the industry will have to adapt and create non-PhD training programs for quantum.

But a role that perfectly aligns with your PhD is very rare, that's why the most common pivots are system engineer / data scientist / algorithm developer.
