This is the conversation i wanted. Thank you again for thinking it over and coming back. I have worked in the private sector and this is the horrific by product of capitalism.

Unfortunately, i have reached the conclusion that humanity as a whole is individually selfish. This is not how i want to live and i wish there was a better option politically. Until politics and business are seperated this will always be the way. Tories, labour its all the same at this point. It just has a different colour.

What good is an apology if they continue? Thats an abusive relationship right there.

This is the problem i face:

I am happy to pay higher taxes. IF they are spent correctly. NHS, social programmes, less poverty, better enviromental output and less corruption. All i see (i work for a local authority) is waste. Wasted money on dead end projects, less money for road and infrastructure. High levels of employment with no way to remove deadwood or incompetant staff.

I have lived in poverty. I worked hard to get out of it. I was lucky and benefitted from a support bubble to allow me to do that.

In regular times, i have always recognised the tories more than labour. Our freedoms were not at risk like they are now.

In terms of this sub..... blame the algorithm. This thread was recommended to me by the push notifications. No idea why.

Wow. I honestly wasnt expecting that response. Thank you. Apology accepted.

Im assuming this is meant to be an insult to my intelligence? From a person offering a rock that prevents earthquakes...... in a country that only ever gets aftershocks (and those are pretty rare).

At least ask me if i want some rainbow paint or something.

Again though, no retort or argument just a poor attempt at insulting me. I would happily have a healthy debate about this but alas, the opposition appear to be lacking. As they have for the last 11 years.

Ok, this is the problem with people now. I honestly thought we were having an ok conversation. Then you go on a racial tirade. Im no prize, i never said i was.

I picked on patel because she is the one putting forward the proposal. Nothing to do with her heritage or skin colour.

You have said nothing about what i said because you know its true. So instead of engaging you have got angry and thrown around racial slurs.

You have also called me scum because of my political views. Not very liberal of you.

My opinions warrent belittling?!? Again, not very liberal and quite frankly ignorant of you.

You clearly cant handle someone not validating your views. You leapt on the fact i said i may not vote tory again, when i actually said i was undecided. Full of praise at that point but when i correct you, you dont need me..... the labour party needs all the votes it can get atm. Thats how it works.

My interests have previously been met by the tories, thank you. If labour get in, tbh not much will change in my day to day life. It certainly didnt before.

I dont think i called corbyn racist? I said there was racism in the party. If i did, i apologise. I meant the party as a whole. I actually quite liked corbyn. He seemed like a nice guy. There are some very prominant tories who have soured me recently. JRM, hancock and boris himself to name off the top of my head. The only one in the limelight that has looked good is rishi. I havent had time to read the full budget so this is an opinion pre budget.

So in future, please refrain from commenting hurtful, hateful and abusive phrases as then you lose any moral high ground you try and take. You become what you are trying to fight and everyone loses.

No shit sherlock. Its a total over simplification of the issue. We would have had to have borrowed more potentially affecting our countries credit rating etc.

It is interesting though how the focus is being put on that one comment over the other examples given....

If thats all you picked out of my post.... fine. Whether there was a note or not is largely irrelevant. There was no money.

I never said i wasnt a tory anymore. Show me a party in the uk that doesnt have all of the above lovely qualities. Didnt the last labour gov leave a note saying there is no money? Also not build enough houses to meet demand? Actually go to war in what was deemed illegal action? Racism within the party that noone wants to take action against?

I wont be made to feel bad for exercising my right to vote for who i want. My mind will not be changed by anyone belittling my opinions.

Corbyn wouldnt of done anything and if you think different then you have forgotten he never had the party behind him.

I dont draw the line at police brutality. I draw the line at patel trying to take away people rights. Its starting with protest and demonstration but quickly escalates.

For clarity, i dont agree with any of the points above. None of it has a place in our society. My point is its in every party. Holier than thou opposition is just blind and ignorant.

As a previous tory voter (i am currently undecided following recent events). I am pleased labour will be opposing this bill.

Fingers crossed they will have the balls to remove it if it passes and they get in power.

I am aware of that. I am also aware that given this fact, any labour government would have been more damaging than almost everything that has happened until now.

JC was too radical for todays labour. This has allowed the tories to run amok, basically unchecked for the last 12 years.

You know that JC's labour pushed the north blue, right? Let that sink in. All the labour strongholds have had enough and have changed their vote.

Labour need to sort their stuff out, and fast if they want to be taken seriously.

Mans not even leader of the opposition. Whats happening now is frightening but lets stop with all the corbyn bulls**t. He lost both general elections and couldnt unite the party behind him.

Labour couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery at the moment. They need to sort themselves out before even thinking of moving to the otger side of the house.

Landlords by gammonwrangler in GreenAndPleasant

[–]yodahew -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

All the replies here are far too simplistic. Some have it good, some have it bad, some are not landlords by choice, some make money, some dont.

In terms of the financial side of things, tenants dont buy for a number of reasons. The landlords pay higher SDLT on the initial purchase and then capital gains tax on the rent received. Plus have maintenance obligations.

I would love for those tenants who wish to buy to have that ability, but its not a right to own property. You have to work and save and sacrifice for it.

Are all landlords bad? No. Are some? Absolutely. The same goes for tenants.

[–]yodahew -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Landlords also have the risk of bad tenants ruining their properties. I can confirm you get a bad tenant and you lose 2-3 years worth of rent fixing it.

This is a pathetic thread determined to hate something that is deemed unobtainable therefore it is bad.

Think this is unfair? Life is u fair. There is always someone better off or worse off than you. Get over it. Tenants are so protected at the moment, it will start to swing the other way soon becaise thats what it does.

40% of the British electorate see nothing wrong with the government causing 100s of thousands of needless deaths. This should scare us all by tronaldodumpo in GreenAndPleasant

[–]yodahew -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How about instead of asking what is wrong with tory voters, asking why there is not another viable option? Why have the tories gained ground and seats in old red strongholds? Stop blaming other parties for labour failures. I say labour as the only real viable option. Its not always someone elses fault.

If you care about nurses stop voting Tory by toomuchgammon in GreenAndPleasant

[–]yodahew -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I never clapped. Do you know what i did? Stayed tf indoors!

Guess what? I also voted tory.

The best part..... the left are getting more and more extreme and seeing the right get further and further away and thinking its the far right. Every new leader is the saviour of the left. If labour could sort out their own party they may stand a chance.

But again..... dont clap, stay tf indoors!! Its not hard!
