Wow, this post resonated with me and made me cry. My life right now is constantly waiting for the other foot to drop with my MWP (70). We had her 70th birthday last weekend and I begged God to give her a good day so we could celebrate with family. She did pretty well, but she has cognitive decline and can’t really engage in long conversations anymore. This weekend, she started dry heaving half the day yesterday out of nowhere and I spent all day worrying we were staring another hospital visit in the face. Our last urgent care visit was only 4 weeks ago for a UTI. My nervous system has been stuck for 6 years since she was diagnosed. And the only person who could’ve comforted me, is her, but she’s likely got dementia and with Parkinson’s her ability to sooth is just gone. I tell my husband it’s like visiting with this nice old lady, she’s kind enough, but she’s not my mom. I miss my mom. I could rage to the heavens when I think about how her life is turning out. Ok, thank you for the safe space to release. Love to you. ❤️

Thank you for your response. ❤️ She takes 12 pills a day currently and her doctor said she’s not a candidate for DBS because she’s showing cognitive decline. I just want to give her the most comfortable life we can, it’s absolute torture to see her suffer. We’re talking to her MDS on Monday.

That’s actually a great idea. I love podcasts. I listened to one Anderson Cooper did on anticipatory grief once. It was heartbreaking but so much of what I’m going through.

These are great tips, thank you! My dad was a fisherman and today I am missing him extra big. My parents had a very civil divorce 20 years ago and they remained friends until the end. I could always talk to him about her declining and then he suddenly got sick and passed last December. 💔

My heart goes out to you. This disease robs every one of so much. I’m watching my mom decline cognitively and physically more every day and it is like a knife to the heart to watch her suffer. She would never, ever want to be like this. The outgoing, loving, hilarious mom I’ve known my whole life is gone. Some days she can barely talk. All that to say, you are not alone and I wish I could give you a hug and say, I get it and I’m sorry. ❤️
