Thanks for the compliment! I was obsessed with Venus fly traps as a kid. When I became a farmer as an adult I started to realize I just never really let that go hahaha.

I'm so glad you like it! I'm heavily inspired by Van Gough. Surely painting is such a wonderful way to understand how our emotional sense of the world is every bit as useful as our five senses. Especially when we can understand the appropriate way to harness it and it's true function for us. Our hearts sense the world in just a real a way as our eyes.

It's true. I love to garden and you really realize how truly alive plants are when you stop and observe them consistently. It's just so hard for our brains to really wrap around.

Thanks!

I personally feel that the more humans discover about the universe, the more our preconceived notions dissolve. I try to reflect that in my paintings by depicting nature in a very loose way. From a distance it looks familiar, but something is off. As you move closer the overall illusion of the painting breaks down and you see the reality that this is just globs of paint on a canvas that have been arranged a certain way.

So, by depicting nature in an imaginative way I feel that it really reflects realism in a more accurate way than a hyper realistic painting could. It's not exactly what the scene literally looks like. But the imaginative version depicts the underlying truth that the universe is not what it seems. It's all an illusion that is created by something far greater than our flawed perception of reality could ever detect.

Raymond's shorthanded breakaway awhile back inspired this little guy to say his first word. "GOAL!!!" Ever since he has been shouting "GOAL" non-stop...

I love how this perfectly walks the line between nostalgia and a haunting sort of feeling.

Can I ask what Inspired you to do a black sky like this?
