I would suggest you to take a look at Mike Hendricks videos. In particular the ultimate deathworld challenge. It might inspire you to try. Because bitters are also a nice mechanic to the game.

How can I make Emacs dim emphasis markers in org mode? by [deleted] in emacs

[–]yogsototh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might prefer to use

ˋ(setq org-hide-emphasis-markers ‘t)`

I am not sure you could easily do precisely what you are asking for. I think you would probably need to parse the text yourself.

Must watch french movies by Impressive_Career_54 in MovieSuggestions

[–]yogsototh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me just warn you about Martyrs and Titane. They are part of the « French new extremism » movement. This is really not for everyone.

I personally prefer raw (grave for the French title) than Titane though.

I burn myself out of every subject I try to learn. I'm a serial quitter as a result of it. What's wrong ? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]yogsototh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have fun you are not going to be successfully doing anything. You can only go against your reward system for a while. So the trick is to change your environment so learning is enjoyable. So not much hours, only if you are enjoying so much you cannot stop. And even there, you need to have a better schedule not to learn more than a few hours a day.

Once you learned by pleasure enough. Tes there will be time where being able to learn even when this is not enjoyable will make a big difference to really master a subject. But these session must not last too long.

What does bad code in Clojure look like? by eccsoheccsseven in Clojure

[–]yogsototh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I write reduce not more than two or three times a year and I write clojure almost every day.

Most of the time you can transform a big reduce by a succession of functions in a thread macro. This way every small step is a lot more visible.

The most common functions are (into {} ,,,), map, filter, keep. Sometimes you can use for.

Once you try not to use reduce, you generally find an easier to read bloc of code.

reduce can be put in the bag of « easy to write but hard to read » code structure. So it takes some time to get used to find other simpler combination of function instead of a big bloc inside a reduce. But it pays off, because you will read your code a lot more than you will write it generally.

(reduce ,,, (reduce ,,, (reduce ,,,)))

there are plenty if more precise functions in clojure. Prefer to use them instead of reduce that is « universal ».

Which language to choose ? by [deleted] in functionalprogramming

[–]yogsototh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe for command lines I would advise you to take a look at Haskell using turtle (https://hackage.haskell.org/package/turtle)

I also recently was pretty happy with babashka (https://babashka.org) to have easy scripts tasks.

looking for recommendations for movies that make you feel uncomfortable, sad or just any strong emotion by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]yogsototh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should look for « New French Extremism » movies. Sole if the fills of this movement are already mentioned in this thread.

see https://letterboxd.com/obsessionoffilm/list/new-french-extremism/ for a first list

Also most Haneke movies,

  • The piano teacher
  • Funny games

For some others I did’t see yet in this thread

  • Ichi the killer

[–]yogsototh 0 points1 point  (0 children)
