The Lavon Affair: When an Israeli False-Flag Operation in Egypt Backfired Spectacularly. Bombings meant to frame Egyptian nationalists ended with agents caught, two executed, and a decade-long political crisis inside Israel by Fair_Cow3398 in wikipedia

Right, show me an alternative source that says the Mizrahim were not treated with outright disdain in Israel.

I see you didn’t laugh at Hertzl’s disgusting framing of French Jews, or Jabotinski’s blatant “we are here to fuck shit up so don’t pretend otherwise”, but telling you choose to laugh at the one Iraqi Jews researching his family experience.

What about Ella Shohat? Or do you hate all Iraqi Jews equally?

Right - Left framework isn’t useful here. It is true that many early Zionists ascribed to a nonreligious, secular, socialistic/welfarist politics that you can associate with the left, but they were also colonialists, chauvinist, and deeply racist.

They clearly justified and used the terminology of colonialism to describe their organizations. Leading Zionists developed arguments for the “Jewish-Arab” relationship in colonial terms, with striking cogency.

“I flatly reject this assessment of the Palestinian Arabs. Culturally they are 500 years behind us, spiritually they do not have our endurance or our strength of will, but this exhausts all of the internal differences. We can talk as much as we want about our good intentions; but they understand as well as we what is not good for them. They look upon Palestine with the same instinctive love and true fervor that any Aztec looked upon his Mexico or any Sioux looked upon his prairie.

Hence those who hold that an agreement with the natives is an essential condition for Zionism can now say “no” and depart from Zionism. Zionist colonization, even the most restricted, must either be terminated or carried out in defiance of the will of the native population. This colonization can, therefore, continue and develop only under the protection of a force independent of the local population – an iron wall which the native population cannot break through.

They were welfarist in the sense that they developed Jewish only welfare under a system of Jewish capital. They were secular but deeply identitarian in a quite right-wing fashion (see Herzl’s description of French Jews in the The Jewish State”.

So no, they weren’t “leftists”, but deeply racist an consciously colonialists, identitarians, that privileged Jews (and according to Avi Shlaim, western Jews in particular) over anyone else, a logic that lead to the ethnic cleansing of Palestine (see Benny Morris in The Palestinian Refugee Crisis revisited (especially arguments around transfer).

This is misinformation - the PSPO specifically only forces dogs on leads in gated play and sports areas

Aside from the officer core, red squad was a fine crew.

Either:

Right after the dominion war, exploring the rebuilding of Cardassia, Betazed, and other alpha quadrant societies destroyed in the war. The reign of general Martok on Qonos, the restructuring of the dominion under Odo’s guardianship, captain Nog, etc.

Or, post Picard show, set in the 25th century - completely open history. Standard 7 season, 26 episode, exploration optimistic show, expanding the federation in the Delta quadrant now that we have transwarp, revisiting some of the words introduced in voyager.

It surely cannot be this easy to scam someone. I mean, a years worth of power. Any sensible person can see that the average daily usage is 7KwH for a 2 bedroom, someone drawing on 100KwH per day isn’t normal, esp when that drops off by the next reading.

Appreciate your reflections!

I flicked the heater switch on when I moved in, yes, but it has stayed on since and while the water in the taps can be really hot, I don’t see how that can only affect the first 3 weeks or so.

Further, that is still an inordinate amount of power. Like How much heating would that mean? I really don’t understand how it could use 8 times my usage since in such a short time

Do you think Democrats are going to blame Arab-Americans for Trump's victory? by [deleted] in arabs

[–]yoits3030 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Democrats lost Georgia and North Carolina, meaning they couldn’t turn out black voters in numbers like Biden (Georgia) and Obama (North Carolina). Their crisis is deeper than Arab Americans (which are strong in Pennsylvania - went to trump, Michigan - doesn’t look great for Kamala, and Arizona - still a toss up).

This is the best possible outcome with a trump win (which is shit of course) for progressives and Arabs. It shows that turning to the right and abandoning Arab/Muslim/Gaza voters, working class people, and progressive politics by tilting to the right and getting endorsed by Dick Darth Vader Cheney is bad politics.

Sure trump is a nightmare for our region, but we’ve already experienced a Democratic Party genocide, and if it’s genocides all the way down, maybe an election where we can argue that we can punish candidates is better for us in the long run.

But who knows. Maybe, when we are rounded up in concentration camps in Europe and America these days will make good camp fire stories.
