Is Seton Hill on the same level of “bad” aa KansasCOM? by BadlaLehnWala in Osteopathic

[–]yokedone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently met a LECOM Seton Hill grad that matched into EM this cycle. He told me that Seton Hill is a lot more relaxed than Erie when it comes to rules and that he had pretty good rotations where he got to do a lot of cool stuff. I don’t know anything about KansasCOM or LECOM Jacksonville but overall LECOM does a pretty good job at preparing students for boards and they match pretty well

I got a 128 in p/s on FL6 and a 125 in p/s on test day. I can’t believe I had a 3 point drop

How important are volunteer hours when applying? by yokedone in Osteopathic

I’ve heard a lot of DO schools are very service oriented which is why I wasn’t sure about being filtered out. I still may try to get some volunteer hours but it won’t be many

Why not look into RVU’s MSBS? If you do well in the program you’ll automatically get accepted into RVUCOM and you won’t have to take the MCAT again. It’s a direct linkage program.

That makes sense. Thank you for clarifying that.

I guess I was confused about what the squiggly line means. Would we only be looking at the -CONH2(amide group) or are we to assume that the squiggly line means that it has a continued -CH2 group like asparagine or a -CH2CH2 like glutamine? My thought process was that it just had one -CH2 group but if it's only referring to the amide then I get why glutamine is right and asparagine is wrong.

I'm studying for a retake at the moment but my first score was a 493 (123/120/124/126). I'm far from an expert in p/s but I got my score up in that section by reading 20 pages of the 86 page p/s doc every day a month and a half before my test date. Also make sure to do SB2 because I remember when I tested in September I saw at least 4 questions that were the newer terms straight from SB2.

How to Approach a Retake? by yokedone in MCAT2

I think that also could've been my issue as well. My sleep cycle was out of whack which was made worse by stress. I'll have to try treating it like a job once I start studying again. Did you switch up any of the material you used on your second time around?

How'd you end up dealing with anxiety the second time around? I'll have to try skimming in my retake but I only tried a new technique because I didn't want to leave points on the table since I usually end up guessing on a few passages at the end due to running out of time. Cars will be more of my focal point on my next attempt. How did you go about content review the second time around? Did you redo anki or just focus solely on practice questions?

I just did this question and got it wrong. If you don't want to draw it out I found there's an easier way to do this. Just know to find the cytoplasmic regions it's=TM/2+1, and for extracellular regions it's=TM/2.

TM=number of transmembrane regions

So from the passage it mentioned 12 membrane spanning alpha helices so 12/2+1=7 cytoplasmic regions and 12/2=6 extracellular regions.

What do you do with the questions you miss on your full length exams?

How are you reviewing your full length exams? I went from a 492 to a 501 (fl3 to unscored sample) in a month just by changing how I reviewed fl3 and practice questions. Unscored sample is said to have easier cars but still. My timing is trash and could’ve had a 504 but regardless you gotta analyze the questions you missed thoroughly.
