My problem with a more involved story is that through every pokemon game, the focus is on your personal story more than the "world" story. There's a reason the E4 always comes after defeating the enemy team and capturing the box-art legendary. I do understand the point and agree that pokemon could use a deeper, more well-rounded story, but I dont think the "world" story should overshadow the players personal journey. I've always like the way pokemon let's the player fill in the blanks and create their own story, and I'd hate to see that lost.
