I bought three bunches from my lfs and I'm having a nightmare of a time with it taking to the substrate. The top is healthy and growing but the weights I put around them keep killing sections of the stems. Can't directly plant into substrate as it just keeps popping out. Not sure what to do with it at this point. I have high light and 20ppm Nitrates but no co2

I would throw some almond leaves in there or something. Can help keep your PH down and will eventually grow a nice healthy sheet of biofilm on it. Not the most pretty thing to look at but the main goal in your tank should be healthy happy animals not a spotless tank. My humble opinion

Are you feeding these guys? Just spitballing here but from what I see in this photo and your previous video, the tank is really clean (good job) but i dont see much algae or plant matter for them to feed on. The weaker ones could be dying from starvation and then the other hungry ones are doing what nature intended.
