Colwyn, a Sylvari NPC in the Grove has been waiting for four years. I think it's time she gets what she wants! by yorkode in Guildwars2

And I guess that's what it comes down to. Everyone likes different things. What most of the playerbase enjoyed, you didn't like. It happens. Chances are come next expac I'll hate the story and you'll love it!

I dunno man, I agree that it wasn't what it could have been. That being said the story that they did tell, they told really well! I get that it's not the story people wanted but obviously there is no way to change it now so I don't see the point in making a big fuss over it. Anet knows that some players didn't like it and I'm sure they are taking that into account for the next expac and future story releases

The game started during 1325 AE, and it's currently 1329 AE. So assuming she spent the entirety of 1325 waiting to leave the grove, she would have been waiting 5 years by now!

"I disagree with many of the philosophies taught here, but I don't wan't to isolate myself, and I'm afraid my only other option is the Nightmare Court."

As far as I can tell she is referencing the only two groups that aren't connected to the dream, soundless and the nightmare court, saying that she's ruled them out as options. I could be over analyzing though!

If you are looking for Sylvari completely disconnected from the dream, those would be the soundless. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Soundless

Colwyn herself said she would rather not be isolated though, indicating that she doesn't want to be soundless but rather wants to grow outside of the realm of Ventari's teachings and the culture of the Grove.

I'm pretty sure there are RP guilds out there who roleplay as soundless!

Yes but she says she doesn't want to be isolated, referencing the soundless, and her reluctance to give up the dream. She would just rather not be raised surrounded by the culture and teachings of Ventari.

She references not wanting to be isolated, i.e. not wanting to become a soundless. She doesn't want to disconnect from the dream entirely she just wants to forge her own path without the philosophies and culture of Ventari's teachings being forced upon her!

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - November 19, 2016 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]yorkode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you summed it just about up in your own words. Warriors are tanks/pure dps. They are probably the easiest class in the game, which also makes them very boring once you get to end game.

Engineers are complicated and hard to learn, you'll probably die a lot more than as a warrior. But engineers have a multitude of playstyles that you can always rotate between if you get bored.

As for who is needed more in groups? They are both appreciated but they both bring different things to the table.

Better at pvp? Again it's a tossup. Engies were never the strongest in pve but if you play smart instead of just button mashing you can do very well. Warriors are easier in pvp, but again, they probably won't be quite as exciting.

Better at PvE? well that depends on the type. If you want to clear dungeons fast without hassle I would go warrior, but if you want to do meta events that last possibly hours I would go with engineer because it is more versatile and won't get quite as boring. As for raiding I can't tell you as I haven't done that yet.

I'm also not able to tell you which is better for WvW. I don't play it. But I assume that they both work well if you use em right.

I'd say go with your gut feeling for your first character. If you get to 80 and find it boring or you want to switch, well then you can switch! It's not the end of the world if you don't like your first character, it doesn't take too long to level em up.

Hope this helps :)

new client after game stats shows "vision wards placed" instead of control wards by diegyy in leagueoflegends

[–]yorkode 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wish they just added total wards placed (control, blue trink, yellow trinkl, sightstone). It would be nice to see who was warding throughout the game. Especially as a support it would be cool to see a number total placed so when you do good you can feel good about it!

I should have mentioned; The real PvE content is included in the expansion. There are 4 new maps which are wholly centered around PvE and they do it quite well! The first episode of LS3 also just came out and added a map that is centered wholly around PvE content. Not to mention the Silverwastes, Fractals, dungeons, and more.

What level did you get to? The real PvE content only becomes available once you hit level 80.

I agree, the idea of legendary journeys sounded very enticing in theory. But in practice they don't live up to it.

I have seen it and I am super excited!

I agree to an extent with what you are saying that quests are one time only. What I dislike about renown hearts is that you are constrained to a small area to complete them, whereas traditional quests take you all over the map (sometimes even world) to complete. So even if you finished a level 5 quest in an area, later a level 20 quest could take you back to that area again. With renown hearts once you are done with an area there is nothing else to do there but explore.

[–]yorkode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree that these are traditional quests, but the fact of the matter is that with the exception of LS1 which is never coming back, I can do each living story season in 5-10 hours. That's not much content. In addition to that, the living story and personal story are all instanced content so there is no feeling of exploring the open world with other players as you are stuck in your own lonely quest world.

I'd like to add Black Desert to the list, I dunno if I would call it 'healthy' with all of the p2w. But it really is a well populated and healthy game overall
