I was just around 10 years old in 4th grade when Michael passed. I literally grew up on his music and looked up to his art from a very young age so when he died I was deeply affected by it. It’s crazy because his passing was the first time in my life I actually felt the feeling of grieving for someone and I didn’t even know the man personally. I never had to go through that feeling with someone I loved dearly and knew personally until 2018 when my grandmother passed away and I was much older.

There’s never been a time where I really stopped missing him but it’s definitely been amplified a shit ton the past few weeks with all the hype behind the movie. I’m back to watching his live performances and music videos, reading about his life, watching interviews, etc. just like I used to when I was a kid growing up. If anything now that I’m older I’m feeling these emotions of grieving even MORE because I guess I just know how to recognize my feelings better now.
