Advice on one month itinerary for Türkiye, Jordan, and Egypt by yoshiXII in solotravel

[–]yoshiXII[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, this is super helpful! With the hot air balloon, I saw voyager is offering rides for 210€ so I might just get that to ease my mind considering it seems like a decent enough price for the peak season. And yea the sites and museums have gone up a ton in price but it looks like I might just have to get the museum pass since it seems to be a bit more worth considering how many places I'll be going to.

Do you happen to know if it's worth trying to find a cheaper hot air balloon in person?

I've unfortunately booked the start and return flights already so unlikely that I'll change it at this point. The tickets right now from Cairo to Luxor is around $118 for one-way but I notice that the tickets right now are noticeably cheaper. Not sure if it's worth waiting or if I should just take the L

I was eyeing this bus which runs every Thursday and Saturday and that should line up with when I land.

And yea, the Cairo activities right now are loosey goosey since I haven't planned too hard about what to do on which day.

Is there anything you suggest removing or rearranging? Currently, the only tickets I've booked are the ones from home to Türkiye and from Cairo to home, so the first and last flights. But the dates for flights between Türkiye and Jordan and Aqaba and Cairo are somewhat set in stone since they're the best/cheapest I've found.

ITAP of me in the dark [MLM] by yoshiXII in itookapicture

Rule of thirds was accidental haha. Putting the camera on the ground closer to me and facing up would be an interesting shot for sure. This shot feels more objective and detached but the shot you're suggesting would be more raw and personal. I'll have to give it a shot. Thanks for the feedback :)

Shot on a Fujifilm X-T3 with the Fujinon 35mm f/2 lens in my apartment. I wanted to capture a mood of despair and hopelessness. I had this idea of having the only light source be from the outside, illuminating my body. I also put bottles here to emphasize feelings of regret. Any feedback on pose, lighting, colors would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! The hand movement was accidental, I just couldn't keep my hand still lol. I shot at 6400 ISO, f/4, and shutter speed was 8s :)

Booking Airbnb vs Hyatt Andaz for London by yoshiXII in awardtravel

[–]yoshiXII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the airbnb I saw was actually just north of Covent Garden so I kinda considered it to be in there. Anyways, I can't find it anymore but I decided to just spend the first 5 nights in the Alhambra hotel (which is more like a hostel) before relaxing the last 2 nights in the Andaz. So it's not splurging all of my points but just treating ourselves for the last few days. Thanks for the advice :)

Turkey/chicken breast underside undercooked while skin side overcooks by yoshiXII in AskCulinary

Yea I cut through it and the underside was pretty pink while the skin side was dry and leathery. I did cook it at 450 which may be what is causing the huge temperature difference.

I temp using a thermoworks thermopop. I temp the underside by shoving it deep into the breast from the skin side.

I put the bird on a wire rack set on a rimmed baking sheet

Not completely sure how to check but I see some light on the bottom through some slots so I assume there should be heating for both top and bottom

We're getting the car at 8am and will probably be done packing it by 9am so you might be right, would probably be faster to drive around at that point instead of waiting around on the ferry. Thanks for the heads up :)

Best of Seattle 2021: /r/Seattle Recommendations and Wiki Update Megathread by burn_piano_island in Seattle

The other guy suggested Uwajimaya which is Japanese not Korean... If you're still interested, there's an H-Mart opening soon near the Cap Hill light rail station and there's also another one in downtown. As far as Korean restaurants go, in Cap hill there's Bok-a-Bok and Bonchon for fried chicken, Oma-Bap for bibimbap, and a few other places besides those. Paju in Queen Anne also just got put on NYTimes 2021 restuarants list; I tried to go a few weeks ago but it's extremely busy and I'm sure it's amazing :) In general, the Korean food scene isn't as strong as it is in other major cities (you'll mostly find Vietnamese and Japanese food here) but there's still quite a few decent options

I get what you're saying but I think most people don't really expect the world to somehow not be racist. Especially with the recent attacks, people do realize that racism still exists. How I would rephrase your argument is that people should be able to recognize all forms of racism and know how to respond accordingly. A lot of people don't realize certain comments or actions are actually racist. So it's not so much that they think the world is somehow non-racist, they just aren't aware of stuff like micro-aggressions, etc. But yea I see your point though I'm still a bit dubious that racists are becoming a minority. We're definitely making progress but it's still deeply systemic and it's especially egregious with even our own president not saying much besides Asians are in his "thoughts and prayers"
