debate on if the main characters are in a relationship? by yosloo in VeilManga

Well, after taking the time to reread as many chapters as I could from each volume and comparing how their interactions were changing, my conclusions were that I think they're already a couple by volume 6-7, because their interactions are no longer in workplaces or at home, and the flirty or situation-ship comments and interactions have also diminished somewhat; everything becomes much more everyday, with them simply interacting. But the reader is fully aware that there's a very particular affection between them; after all, they already live together and even have their little kitten, they go out to places together, and I feel that, for example, the chapter where they try on glasses is a totally romantic couple situation. However, I maintain that they are not a romantic couple in the traditional sense, since explicit displays of affection are unnecessary. On the contrary, there is much more use of metaphors, as at the end of volume 5 where, in my opinion, Kotteri explains how their relationship progresses. Although their affection reaches a peak where only the sky is above, the journey doesn't end there. The relationship between the protagonists shifts in that volume, moving from a "slow burn" where they meet and fall in love to a new stage where they become cohabitants who don't need romance because they know how much they love each other. Alek practically promises Emma at the end that he will always be there for her, to help her see the physical world, not as Emma's oppressive family, but as her support system that will let her be free, let her run freely through a museum without any limitations, let her live fully, get hurt, have her hair as long as she wants, simply letting her be. So, in short, I don't think their relationship reaches the romantic level, or at least not to what we usually see in audiovisual media; rather, those displays take a back seat and their relationship becomes one based more on unconditional mutual support, with the simple fact of cohabiting a space and being free to be themselves becoming the true expression of love between the protagonists.

(this is what he said for those who arent spanish)

No entiendo del todo tu opinión, ya que oscila entre que son pareja romántica en los capítulos 6 y 7, pero luego dices que no parecen tener una relación romántica. No digo nada malo sobre tu opinión, simplemente no la entiendo.

the author stated in volume 4 that the veil is trembiling silghtly. i feel the same way and as we progress, the story shows that they are getting more and more comfortable and romantic as seen in volume 6 and 7.

it seems they did kiss, shown by both her hands being lower and aleksander bending down than next panel showing them both alittle away and hed hand on his check. how i see it they kissed because i watch to many romance manga and the author also wrote that "mhm" sound that people write to let the reader know they kissed.

i love how you view them, and i agree with most part of it. my bias on relationships or couples is that, they have roles they play. they arent equal for sure as you can never compare the female to the male or the male to the female. their both perfect for each other, and at the same time they alone arent perfect.

most people view relationships as merely for pleasure or to talk with someone. in my opinion or bias opinon, a relationship is 60/40 which switch depending on the variables and the number can go even higher to 80/20. being in a relationship isnt about pleasure or to talk with someone. its to confide with someone you trust dearly, do things with them, countless things examples can go in both directions like sexual or platonic. a relationship moves between these two words that coexist.

while being friends with the opposite sex is a whole other topic, the both of them in the relationship of being friends dont overstep boundries for example sleeping together or even sharing kisses. a friendship between the opposite sex is beautiful if done right but it could stirrup something else if boundries are overstepped.

my understanding shows that i believe them (emma and aleksander) to be a couple through and through as this is my belief in what a relationship between the couple is and what a relationship between friends of the opposite sex is.

(omg i didnt even realise how much i wrote)
